While it's not as sexy or as much fun as the Celica, taking the Yaris out for it's first Auto-X event! A little bit worried about getting around the ABS/SCS/TCS and hoping that just pulling a fuse will do the trick, no switch on these cars. Also it's been about 8 years since I ran my last AX and that was in the Celica with zero mods, so body roll for days. I'll try to get pics and post up results next week... racerb :driving:corsair
You need to give a try, I first started running in 1980 in a Civic and continued right up until '92. It was 2004 before I ran again and that was in the Celica, just one word of warning, after you run your first Auto-X you'll be hooked and you want enjoy regular driving again! California is a huge Auto-X community, just check it out on-line with SCCA and independent sportscar clubs.
wow they run late down there. the last autox here is mid october. have fun! 86: there is only 1 rule...there is NEVER enough tire. learn to accept it.
Well just returned home from todays Auto-X and It didn't go half bad, was even able to take a few pics and make some pretty decent runs, for me that is!! Brought home a little reminder of todays event and hope I can pick up more of these next year... I'll try to post results as soon as there availible from the region! racerb
I don't know what the hell is going on with my computer tonight, but if I can find my dead blow hammer, I think I can fix it!!
holy cow man! even thou there still pics, nice! I need to really sit down and figure this out. I got to put this beams motor to work onces its running.
Even though it had been 8 years since my last event, it came back to me pretty quickly! This was an SCCA event with members paying $25 to enter and non-members paying $35, that included a $10 weekend membership. I asked if I could use my NASA membership and they said no problem and I could just pay the $25 fee, oh and since it was a Toys For Tots event, I gave them a new unwrapped toy for another $5 off the entry. So for just $20 I had the time off my life and learned a ton of info on what the Yaris needs to be more competetive. racerb
As promised here are the results from yesterday, still got a lot of work with the car to come. Still running stock everything, only mods are a K&N panel filter, added rear swaybar, and ABS/SBC fuse pulled. I'm even running used street tires that were pretty damn hard! http://www.ncrscca.com/sites/default/files/results/solo/2012/07_track_stars_charity_auto-x_fin.htm racerb :driving
