so recently my gf's bought an mr2 that has been sitting for 5 years, and the last 4 months of it outside in the rain. as some of you know, the engine lid has grilles so heat can escape. unfortunately that lets water into the engine bay when it's sitting. to make matters worse, the valley cover that goes in between the two 4a-ge valve covers (similar to 3s-ge) covering the spark plugs was not there and we have about 2 inches of rat poop/water. so cylinder 2's spark plug was rusted on and my 12 point 5/8 socket pretty much stripped the spark plug. breaker bar, pb blaster, wd40, impact wrench did nothing after some research i decided to use this (Irwin Bolt Grip Deep-socket) it still didn't budge, so i decided to warm the engine up. it ran on the 3 cylinders that i've changed the plugs on for 5 minutes before cylinder 2 kicked in. add some wd40 when it was all warm, sit for 5 minutes. hit it with an impact and it came out with no effort! WHY BOSCH PLUG IN TOYOTA! THIS IS THE 3RD TOYOTA IN A ROW THAT IVE SEEN WITH BOSCH!
every time i see a bosch plug in a car, i see how badly I can dent the bottom electrode by throwing it on the ground!
I own 3 sets of those sockets. Typical metric 3/8" socket, typical metric 1/2" socket, and typical metric 1/2" deep well socket.
I have a set of these and they are invaluable for hard to loosen bolts. I had to use one on a buddys oil pan because wal mart had damn near stripped out the drain plug.
