-88 2.0 GT turbo project is getting new paint

Paint job is started, door and trunk areas from body are now painted, trunk lid is painted and hopefully during this coming week I get rest of the car painted. No pics to show yet, but I´m working on it. It´s going to be different, not unheard of, but different :naughty

Really hope it won´t be a disaster...

hey, if you have 220hp turbo motor under that hood, nothing's gonna be disastrous! :D can't wait to see the finished product!

I stand corrected, they way I was taught to tune was on a long uphill with the motor pulling hard and then reading the plugs.
That way it would be rich and lean out at revs - looks like the opposite is applied nowdays.
I noted the other day a turbo on the dyno the FPR rose from 45psi to 60psi and assumed it was to compensate for the rise in boost.

    What size injectors?
Why you want to delete the T-VIS?
Is it a GE or GTE head?

Stock injectors, I have extra fueling done with very simple electronic device. It consist boost sensor, few other electric things, two adjustment screw and 1 fuel injector. I can set the starting point for extra injector from -0.2 bar to +0.7 bar and I can set how it start to give more or less fuel. Straight line, just how the gain line is angled. Not easy to explain with my english skills, but hope you get an idea. I had 530cc injector, now 630cc.
I want to test how the mixture behaves with and without T-VIS and how much it effects to other things. It allready have more torque in whole area, than stock maximum is. And otherhand it gives max boost, while T-VIS is still closed. I just want to know, how it behaves with and without and after that I make a desision.
It have completely stock 3S-GE so head is also from non-turbo.

also try to control t-vis! t-vis opening point should lower with more power. something to do with crossover points on the graphs with t-vis closed and t-vis opened

Yes, if there is big difference between T-VIS on/off, then it might be good idea to use T-VIS and just lower the close/open rpm. Have to see what dyno says.
In natural aspirated mode, there is differense and thats why it is there. In these custom applications it´s always somekind of compromise. Things aren´t always going to better direction, but it´s fun to try something new...

    This should be interesting
All the guys who sofar deleted T-VIS reported a loss under 5000rpm, those were all GTE heads with much smaller ports so it shouldn't have been that noticeable - but it was.
Yes, boost should make up for intake velocity - problem is the area before boost?

Sorry, I thought you changed ALL your injectors on a previous post

There is boost well before T-VIS opening, in dyno it had 0.3 bar in 2500 rpm. Of course the situation is not the same with every
gear and in a road you don´t always (almost always) drive full throttle. So you can easily drive over 4000rpm with no boost at all. T-VIS opening and closing time is not so simple to solve, but I´ll try to figure something. One thing might be to open T-VIS when it goes to boost (when it starts to give extra fuel), on the other hand then it would stay closed over 4000rpm if there is no boost, but that situation is quite extraordinary and it´s with very low load level. I´ll keep thinking that while I do painting....

Front fenders, front bumber, trunk lid and right door painted. Newer US version amber corner lights modded to early nose. Yesterday I bought 16" alloys. Starting to look way nicer than before. Just can´t show pics yet, don´t want you guys to judge unfinished product :D "Body building" is not so easy and fun as engine modding. It will be ready before summer I think...

i thought the US didnt get headlamp washers

Mayby not. Those gray areas, which have those washers are from eurospec -86 car and those amber parts are from US spec 88-89 I think. Atleast I bought those from usa and those are from newer model, which had wider grille. So I cut those gray areas from old and glued those to "new" ones.

It´s finnish army camouflage color, after some research I got it via local hardware store. Good color, won´t show all the bad details of my bodywork skills :D

    finally painted

I got it finally painted. Now just assembling work left and still have to decide color for 16" alloys. One dusty pic here.

shall I paint my wheels white or orange? Summer is coming and I should get it on the road soon. And
when that happens, I´ll go to dyno to check what my mods have done to torque and hp and more important
what those have done to my fuel curve. If it gets enough fuel, then I might raise boost a little...
