Hey wats up guys....I haven't been on in a while....been BZ working on my house and work and too many other things...anyways I just wanted to kno what headgasket, you guys with the 3SGTE rebuilds, used. I want to just compair pricing avalibility and strength of them..... I mainly don't want to keep replacing headgaskets.... I'm doing a 5SFE head on the 2SE block with the 3SGTE turbo setup....I'm not expecting on doing anything crazy just on having something neer 200-250 maybe horses but we'll see wat i get after doing all this but some insite would be good. Any tips on what i should do in the process of doing this build would be nice too.... In advance thanx, Latintuch112
well for gaskets we use tte, trd, hks or cometic. and not to sound rude but your setup will not last long if it works at all.
Would be neat to see if that setup will work... I'm sure it can be done as long as everything is done right....and with enough cash!
You have a setup that is not going to produce much HP or peformance after its built- You need a 5SFE Block, you will pop that 2se the first week!!! Your oil passages are totally different, best thing to do is degut both block and head and send them to a Machine shop, and have them matchup the cylinder bore and the head chambers.
Damn i didn't even think of the oil passages.....I have both complete engines. The 2SE is in the Celi, thats my avatar, and the 5SFE is in my garage floor (ripped it out of my 91 that was just too far rusted away to save). Seeing that they are both "S" blocks I thought it would work. I really want to make this work. I'ma have to open both engines and see wat I end up wit. Good thing I have friends that are mechinests!! . The ony other thing i can think of doing then is making a new header for my 2SE that would make the turbo work....hmf......i got alot of thinking and more research to do.
I agree with GURR. However if you're totally 100% about forced induction, sell the 5sfe and put it towards a 3sgte -K
2S with a turbo- well hey if you set on it- you have some work to be done- If you have 2Grand you could get it running with that- that would be with stock internals- so unless you dont want to pop you engine 3-4 grand will get you the rods-pistons-rongsthat are needed to hold up to a Turbo. 1000+ Standalone ECU 1000+ Stock 3SGTE Turbo Setup- with ECU. as you can see in that quote there is no labor- best bet if your on a budget- is a 3SGE pretty cheap to get- But<<BUT<< you will have to buy a few things to get it moving- ie:Axles,ECU,Harness......etc. total should run around $500.
a built 2STE would be baller. but pointless. I vote just toss in the 5SFE, give it some good cleaning/tuneup and save up for the GTE.
how about the 5sfe bottom end with the 3sgte head like everyone else? theres plenty of write ups on it. Only think you need to do is machine out a few collant passages on the 3sgte head.
