I called up this ebay company today and coincedentally they have my window in-stock, WOOOHOO! As long as my zipper is oem, I'm golden! Yay, I might actually be able to see out the back window now!
Can't beat the price of 112.50 + s/h. for a complete oem zip-in piece. Other places quoted me 300+ for a re-sew job! HA!
If any convertible people are interested, I'll pass on the info on my experience with the company and product.

    Sorry had to edit this:
Misunderstood the process a tlittle, not advised to just zip-in the new one, might tear stitching. I have to remove the rear portion completely and replace it with the new rear portion. 3hr instal but I don't care, I have a new window for $126.86 which will be here tomarrow! :D

Great customer service from these guys, recommended 100% sor far.

What was wrong with the back window?

Apparently the foggyness and shit can all be taken off....

The previous owner did not know (or didn't care) that she needed to do frequent plastic treatments or it would eventually be ruined. At this point, it's too far gone to remove the foggyness, oxidation I believe it's called. I've tried all the specific plastic cleaners and none have helped.

Yeah the rear plastic windows are a Pita- ive buffed, plastic treated the damn thin- but with this dry weather California has it just dries it up like a sponge- Giving it a Brown color to the plastic!

Whats worse is the $1200 Weatherstrip that goes around the front W/Shield!

That would scratch the hell out the plastic.

Too bad I couldn't get glass but to my knowledge, it's never been done with the 86-89 convertibles.

The product is pretty nice, def. professional quality, decent price. My only nitpick is that it's only double stitched at the top where the zipper is, the bottom window part is single stitched. Still, it will probably last 10 yrs all things considered.

    YAY!

Decided to finally give this a shot today since my window started leaking. Originally thought this was a direct zip-in when I bought it, but it IS NOT - zipper is flipped to opposite side of OEM
It took most of the afternoon, but I think it came out pretty good for a rookie install. :D There's a small wrinkle on the left side, but as the sun hits it repeatedly over the summer it will go away. If not, I'll re-adjust and try the heat gun technique as described in the manual.
If anyone attempts this, keep in mind you need rivit and upholstery tack-gun tools to attach secondary zipper portion to the rear bow (#4) so the window will zip-up into the correct position. The stay pads need to partially removed to get at the #4 bow mounting location to do so :?

    Thanks bro!

It was a pita, but it needed to be done. The wrinkle seemed to go away already :D so I'm good, YAY!

Now that I think about it, I think this manufacturer deliberatly flipped the zip so that once people reintalled, they'd be forced to buy their product again :? OK, W.E. don't advertise the product as OEM because, that's pretty lame since it's NOT. Dispite the misinformation, I think it's a decent product so far.

See my exterior rusting piece of black trim - the "quarter back mouldings"? I believe you can access those studs you broke to replace them if you remove that trim - not sure though. I checked my 'vert book again and it doesn't really cover the replacement of those studs however, the schematic makes it look like that's how you can get at them for replacement - that is IF you can get your hands on those OEM studs. :? Toyota/ASC Inc. calls them "tensioner plate studs".

You should make a how-to. Please! I need to do this. Or just PM me with details.

Oh and where can I find a complete top replacement? And how do I go about putting it on?

First page of this thread there's a link where I bought my rear window, I believe they also do the complete "top assembly". As for just the rear window, I think is doable for most but the complete assembly is rediclious and I would never attempt myself. Your best bet would be to find an auto apholstery shop and have them do it for about $400-500 depending.

The manual I have is in the process of being posted, and not ALL sections are completed yet, but feel free to browse what's finished up to this point.

As for obtaining the manual itself, I was VERY lucky getting the one I have now. I doubt any will pop-up on e-bay anytime soon.
