    Hey guys,
Just wondering if you guys have any tips for removing the window trim on the outside of the rear windows. I was trying to remove if earlier today, but I don’t want to break the clips. What technique should I use??

When I did the front trim (which is probably the same) I used like a plastic wedge, on the outside of the trim, bent it up and in towards the window, this lifted it off the clips.

The clips are just made of plastic so you're probably going to break a couple...but it's not too hard and I managed to get the trim off without breaking it at least..

Yeah, I haven’t come across any screws yet, but I’m not taking the whole trim off. My two rear window's leak, so I took one of my window's off yesterday and put new sealer on it.. I'm going to test it before I do the other window just to make sure it doesn't leak. I've managed to break off three clips that hold on the molding at the bottom of the window because I wasn’t careful when I took the window off. I snapped them off against the body off the car so I’m going to have to think of a way to remount the trim.

Just glue it and hope it never leaks...

You might be able to buy those clips from Toyota...they're probably pretty generic...

Any way you can practice on one at the wreckers??

They look like the front windsheild ones and they just folded inward and came outta the clips no problem....But the clips are glued in anyway so you will break some regardless of how careful you are...

If you dig through my picture archives, there are some pics with them removed on my car. I warn you though, it was hard. And I didn't manage to save them. There are some screws underneath, and they slide and twist funny to come out.

I think you can get them out without ruining them, but you will definately need a trim hammer/anvil to work them back into shape.

Well, I've tried sliding it and down and it only moves about an inch. I might just try and remove the window and take the trim off once the window isn't in the way. I would go to the wrecker and practice, but I don’t think ill have any luck there either. Anyway, ill give it another shop later.
Anyway, thanks for the help guys..

I wouldn't try that. In my case, the whole reason I took the trim off was because I wanted to take the window off, and couldn't easily do so with the trim on.

Write Up when you figure it out. I need to get mine off to sand and paint them.
