I own a convertible, which a lot of people already know. I have since been trying to find a place to buy some seals for the drivers/passenger windows, and the top seal for the top to windshield. Can anyone help me, with some kind of supplier, or is there some kind of alternate source of these seals? I know that a coupe would work for the windows, but the top seal is the one I really, really need... Anyone know? Mitt?
just as an FYI toyota never made the vert. it was contracted to a company in cali. kevin would be the best one to ask this i would think.
Mafix is correct, coupes were sent to ASC Inc. (American Specialty Cars) for the top mod. http://www.ascglobal.com You may or may not have the sticker still on the drivers side frame denoting this. I'm ASC #585 in 1998 I assume they sell replacement parts or have a reseller atleast. I need to contact them also since I'm missing a corner trim piece that I've yet source a replacement for. -K
Really... I thought they became a production vert in 89? That's friggin' crap... I know Toyota had the means to do so... lol This will make this car even harder to get convertible parts... CRAP! lol If you ever find a supplier, I really need these window seals... I have been searching, and searching, and I am finding squat... I mean, at the least, Toyota should have gotten some of the replacement seals, and made it easier on the buyer! lol Friggin' verts! Rarer cars, but a PITA when it comes to looking for parts!
I hear 'ya. I saw a vert parts car on ebay a few weeks ago, but the auction was pulled for some reason. Also, I wish I grabbed more stuff off of that parts car that Mafix/Achmed had over the summer I don't think there was anything wrong with the top assembly at all. :wall: -K
Just for future reference, from what I have heard, you can get top parts from any convertible, up to the mid 90s... Including those of the sebring convertible, and some others... I don't know how much of that is true, but I have read other 4g owners, whom did this...
Wicky you should have a Plate on the inside of the door- I never really looked into the company for parts Ill check tommorow!
Thanks Mitt! I appreciate it. I haven't looked, but I am pretty sure there isn't a plate anymore... I haven't payed attention. I have noticed, though, that I have vin numbers on every single part in my car... At least the body panels, and engine... Strange...
