Insurance is claiming shes worth 1700 with the damage costing 1300 to fix. I have an appraiser out doing a report to fight them on the TOTAL. door got slammed into another car from when a buddy was opening it and caught the wind..
so a damaged door is causing your this?? why did you report it anyways? is that also rust on the doorhandle ?
What? Total loss for that? Is it just the door? What about a replacement door?? That makes no sense, why would they total a car for $1300 damage for a $1700 valuation?
i can fix the door, yes that surface rust that i havent dealt with.... i had to claim it as it hit another cars door pretty badly. 1700 dollar value (which im fighting right now) 1300 repair (more than 75% of the value of the car) totaled. but i found out why they only valued her at 1700...they took the cheapest piece of shyt COUPE on craigslist to compare her too....they are redoing the numbers now.
So....funny story time. Few years ago I bought Stormtrooper (1986 GTS) from another member after my 2005 Accent was totaled in a similar fashion (Hell I wonder how he's doing...I should prolly text him). Fast forward a year (or so) later and I was taken out by a PIT maneuver. I was hit about 2" behind the driver door, sent sliding across 4 lanes of traffic and collected 2 more cars on my ride before stopping about 15' way from a city bus going the opposite direction. When it was all said & done, I had a check for just shy of 6k in 3 weeks later. Make sure they're comparing apples to apples. They tried to fair market my '86 GTS with a '86 ST coupe. They then tried with an '87 GTS. My attorney fought this for me and the insurance ended up sending me a check for about what it was worth retail after speaking with some car dealerships. Also, why is your insurance totaling your car? You could of simply said 'Hey my door fucked up this other guy's car. My door's fine but his is fucked' and they would of never even looked at your car. That's happened a few times to me as well in my truck. Someone rear ends me and the radiator puncher messes up their car but I'm fine. The cop asks if I want to file a claim but I say no because there's no damage to my truck. If I ended up going thru insurance my truck''ll be totaled.
