Im gonna vent the hood on my trac, anyone done this and if so have you had any problems with water getting in the engine and causing problems? I've got a set of the rear hood vents off of a 1st gen mr2 im gonna use i was thinking about putting them on the upper corners of the hood like an old school celica hood vent.

only ever had one issue with my vents and water getting in after an epic rain shower, easy to make a sheild up though.

Water got into the o2 connection, easy fixed.

or mine, lol. if you do like always or myself the vents should start right above the rad.

or me to :p. so far no probles, so long as you mount is in a sensilbe spot i see no reason why you would. only thing is if my car been sitting in the rain for ages i have to give it a minute or so for all the steam to stop after i turn it on haha. once i forgot to and didnt let the car warm up (i know bad). got down the street and stopped at the lights, all steam started coming out and i was panicing and then remembered o yer the water needs to evaporate lol

the vent you have makes a low pressure area behind it. that's why it works so far back on the hood.

rev_head I am planning on doing the same vent on my alltrac like the one on yours. How did you do yours, shop or yourself? I went to the shop and they are all outrages on custom cost. Is about the same as a custom cf one. For me I already did the measurements I need to cut out what I need from the hood then weld whatever lose to make it not vibrate then pin down my fiberglass hood. It won't look smooth like yours but I kind of want a rough look to it too. lol.

i put alot of detail in my build thread about it. If you know how to secure it itl just take time from there, i built my shape from fibreglass and finished with bog.

now i know your going to bitch about this rob. but imo no vent. have tucked ducting. the rad straight up acts as a wall for air flow, decreasing downforce by transmitting high pressure into the low pressure zone under the car, imo id tilt the rad to counteract this and run ducting from the front airdam to where you want cool. or if you just want a vented hood, dont listen to me and go mad. haha

Nice tact but I think every possiable way to keep the engine bay as cool as possiable is going the right direction. :D I am planning to keep my stock aftercooler so I kind of need the vent. Going to need a need rad soon mine seem to be meeting its finally days same for my brake and my supension lol so much too do so little cash to spend :p

lol jokes i dont give a shit :p Mines to let heat out not bring cold air in and is mainly for looks anyway, the fact it vents the heat is just a very big bonus haha

16x's need holes in the hood. it's a boring sheet of metal and not designed good enough to vent the excessive heat these cars make. don't even get me started on the turbo ones.
