If im going to take my valve cover off to paint it, what else do i need to take off to get to the screws on the other side of the cover?
hmm dont know ge's very well, but you should be able to get a screwdriver in there, if not just pull of the vacuum modulator, and what ever vacuum lines are in the way, make sure you mark where they go if you do.
just get a longer philips screw driver. ive had lots of practice at the junk yard with the 3sge. not too bad. might be a little easier if you remove the dizzy cap as well, but not necessary. where do you plan to get your new gaskets at? i need to replace mine :x
When I tightened my covers a few months ago there was 2 or 3 screws on the back valve cover that I couldn't get to; well without removing anything and having just basic tools.
ya those are the ones that idk how to get off because they're blocked and the screw driver cant go straight down, and I have to replace the gasket if i take it off too?
ya i just checked, long will work but it has to be crooked to get one of the screws off. btw guys my valve cover screws come loose after a month or 3 weeks of driving, whats up with that? they dont come completely loose but they get a little loose so i can tighten them back up without much force..
Common problem, they see.comm to work loose on all of us. Just poor design I guess. You can replace the VC screws with allen head bolts from www.twosrus.com or some guys use bolts and rubber washers from HomeDepot. Link: http://www.twosrus.com/catalog/product_ ... ucts_id=76
