Im replacing the head on a 90 gts (5sfe) and the underdrive pulley refuses to come out. By that i mean the bolt will not move. Since i tried to heat it up too much, i melted the rubber that hold the 3 pieces together so now what do i do? i have no way to hold it in place.

btw, i have the worst luck with cars if you didn't notice

When I removed mine on my gt-s, I took the headers off and removed the starter then jammed a crowbar in the flywheel. Then I took a long ass poll and a half inch rachet and it came off. Was still pretty tough to get off.
    Good luck!

some of these bolts can be tightened by the manufacturer up to 900 ftlbs

Unfortunately the only solution I know off is a good impact wrench. In the past I have had too take my car to the mechanic to get him to loosen the bolt. Seeing as you melted the rubber on the underdrive pulley I hope you still have the original pulley.

the original pully is the one that melted... ..... but i have the starter already removed and i was too stupid to think of putting a crowbar in there, thx spoon.

That is not the answer to this.

Put the starter back in, and then put your wrench on the bolt against something that isn't going to move. Then jolt the starter (do not start the vehicle) and let the forces set into motion do their work.

    Or get an impact gun.
