So after my car sat at work all day I started it up and noticed my turbo wasn't spooling even after the engine warmed completely. It was like it was siezed...It finally started spooling fine after I punched the gas hard....it didn't seem to have any issues at all after that although it does seem like there is more vacuum at idle than there was before...Please help as I know very little about turbos!

    Any boost leaks?

Can you spin the impeller by hand? Any shaft play?

Or you could donate the engine to my cause! lol

So I took of the intake piping and felt for shaft play...there is a bit but what is more concerning is the oil that was in there :cry there was also some sort of greasy residue that wasn't there when i bought the car...hard to explain it...maybe tomorrow I can get some pictures posted...so my question now is what other turbo's will fit with this? I'm thinking about going back to the stock CT26 over the Garret M12 (can't seem to find a rebuild kit for the M12) but with the custom manifold/External wastegate setup i'm not sure what will work...I am ABSOLUTELY clueless when it comes to turbos...How do I know the bolt pattern? they can't all be the same can they? I will try and take some pictures of the ENTIRE setup tomorrow for you guys. I just really need to get this figured out ASAP!

So as promised this is my exhaust setup...hopefully we can figure something out from this...

this is the little "adapter" that goes between my headers and my turbo...the External wastegate is bolted AND welded to the adapter (on the right)

this is where the bolts from the adapter come through the headers....unfortunately they are welded...not sure if it a nut that is welded or the bolts...hard to tell

and this is the side that the exhaust exits the turbo...do any of these look like the proper "bolt pattern" for the CT26 turbo?

wow. sounds like the wastegate is either broken or stuck open.

I have an external wastegate with a "screamer pipe" ie my exhaust is dumped pretty much straight off the headers when the wastegate is open...I would know if the wastegate was stuck open...I haven't been able to replicate the results so far....just keep my fingers crossed i guess!
