Trying to put an 86 vert back on the road

Good evening! I'm hoping to find someone on here knowledgeable enough to help me get my 86 gt back on the road. Long story short, the engine blew close to 10 yrs ago and has since been reassembled. I was working on getting it all put back together a few years back and am trying to pick back up where I left off. One of my hurdles is that I am not sure if the correct head was put on the block. The connectors on the chassis harness that go to the switch start inject and the cooling fan switch do not seem to mate. I may just be overlooking something. My first question is, is there a quick way to tell what head, and what block is currently in the vehicle, as well as what head and block should match this chassis? Also, I am trying to get it assembled with used parts to see if it will run. It is somewhat difficult to track these cars down in junkyards, so I am trying to figure out what other cars may have interchangeable parts. Most importantly the distributor. Any help is much appreciated.

I had the same problem with my thermo fan switch - i bought an ST162 switch and it didn't physically fit and the plug was different as well. The switch that came out of it turned out to be from an SV21 Camry, so I assume the motor in mine blew at some point and was replaced with a Camry motor.

If you want to find out whether a particular part is interchangeable from other models, plug the part number into toyodiy.com or amayama.com and you should see what model/s it came from.

Thanks for the info. I got it fired up! There is a wire that is bolted to the passenger side strut tower as a ground and has a black connector on the end, but I can't find out where it is supposed to plug in. Does anyone know what this goes to?

I think you'll need to put up a pic of it, there are a lot of loose extra plugs on these cars, if there isn't a mate nearby it's probably redundant

You have a non JDM 3S-FE, many parts are interchangeable with Camry's, Corona's, Carina's - the 1-5S-FE are pretty much interchangeable.
Yea, sometimes the plugs differ, always cut out the connector when you pull parts - in case
