As the title says I would like to do this swap on my race car to get the higher final drive and get the starter out from under the exhaust. I just want a few things clarified before this gets underway this spring. From what I know the following is required:

3sfe tranny and starter (what code is this?)
3sfe throwout bearing and clutch fork
    3gse flywheel
    3sge pressure plate
    3sfe clutch disc
    GT-S axles

Please correct me if I have made any mistakes so far.

Now I have a question about the flywheel and starter. Is there any issue with the starter engaging the flywheel from the opposite side from normal? My dad was worried about an issue with the gear teeth.

Also, is there anything else that needs to be swapped? Any issues with the shifter cables? Or the clutch lines/slave cylinder?

    Thanks.

the tranny code idk....only thing I can say, is get it from a 3sfe and you`ll be set.
3sfe throwout bearing and cluthfork....is the same as the gts..the only diff between the two trannys are the gearing and starter placement.
    3gse flywheel -correct
    3sge pressure plate -correct
3sfe clutch disc -you can use the 3sge
    GT-S axles -correct

please correct me if im wrong

Standard 3SGE flywheel has a different offset and won't work with a gearbox side starter, been there done that...
You need a different flywheel but I can't remember what they are from, sorry.

for a 3sge motor and a 3sfe trans you need
    gts axles
stock 3sge flywheel with the ring gear removed and flipped around and reinstalled (i am unaware of the offset difference if so then get a GTE flywheel and just bolt it up)
    stock 3sge pressure plate
stock 3sfe clutch disk (different spline and diameter then the ge/gte)
fork and throwout bearing i think are the same
fe or gte starter and fe slave cylinder

Thanks Mafix, I was hoping you'd know. How much did it cost to get that ring gear flipped?

Offset is probably a bad word choice, I was tired at the time I posted. Follow Mafix's instructions, but just be aware that the outboard starter won't work if you just bolt it up.

not sure but i was considering this swap when trying to find a replacement tranny for my 3s-fe. toyota told me that the ecu may have a conflicting problem cuz of reading the different shift points. not sure if this applies to manual tho

Thats likely true with the electronicly controlled automatics. But there are no electronics in the manual boxes, except the reverse light switch.

Did you ever find yourself a new transmission?

I have configured and driven my car with:
(I say "with" because I took it off, tranny was a used one and was bad so gonna get rebuilt in a week)

    3sge:
    pressure plate
Clutchmasters 10lb aluminum fly wheel (they are the same as 3sgte alum. flywheel)
    throw out bearing
    clutchfork
shifter linkage arms, but this is an exception because my 3sfe was from a used jdm car which could have been mated to any 3s block...

    3sfe:
    Starter
clutchmasters stg 4 6 puck disk

My car started fine, and having it taken off I checked the teeth after reading this and it does not have any weird marks.

no but they are an upgrade. the FE axles bolt up with 6 small bolts. i've personally sheared these in half. the GTS axles are hubbed.

if it helps, this is what I observed with my transmission.
1st gear, went to about 35... came so fast could be a bit higher
    2nd gear went to 70mph
    3rd gear went to 100mph
thats about all I did before I took the transmission back off. I miss my damn car so bad....

taller gears can help with your acceleration.
