Mine is rusty and showing signs of going porous, so I plan to change it. To my mind, the gen1 GE and gen2 GE pans look identical - does anyone know if there are any silly differences in the bolt hole positions? They're not terribly expensive new but I have an opportunity on a gen2 one fairly cheap.

    Cheers,
    Jon

I just discovered there are 2 types of Gen1 GE pans by accident last weekend.

The normal pans are missing 2 bolts below the flywheel main seal, but when I went to
change pans I discovered my motor has a different seal housing with 2 studs going into the pan

You'll have to check which one you have, Gen2, FE etc don't have the extra 2 studs

you could always splurg on the moroso oil pan. then get the block off plate. so 400 dollars later you have 7qt capacity and one hell of an engine bottom.
