So I removed the pump and tested it. Dead. I was going to reseal the tank but looking inside saw there is no need for it. Checked my filter for the pump and it showed nothing all around. I may want to replace the sending unit, but I am going to test first. Need to buy the seals also. :cheers

Does anyone know how to test the fuel float on a 88 St165 ? I think that mine is shot/inaccurate. Anyone know where I can get a replacement ? Thanks in advance. :cheers

the sender (fuel level sending unit) is only for the fuel gauge. if the gauge works then your ok....make sure you have fuel in.

-in other words its not like a float on a carb, so not needed to run.

-mine was reading a 1/2 tank low, come to find out it was the gauge in the cluster, not the sender. iirc the sender is insanely priced for a new one...like $350.

    -

there's two parts to it. the arm itself, or the little container that fills up with gas.

the arm = fuel level, little container = fuel empty light
clean the insides of the container, i found tons of sediment inside that on mine, which will mess around with the fuel empty light.

Hi , when I used to fill the gas tank up, the needle at the gauge will only read a little more 3/4 full. Never could tell how close I was getting to "E" . So with the tank down, :crazy , I was hoping to fix it. Any input would be great. :cheers
