hey guys i posted a thread in exterior yesterday about how i would go about making skyline tail lights for my 4th gen. if at all possible, could one of you photoshop this "idea" to my car? thanks! heres what i originally said i wanted, so work off this!

"My idea would be, to create some kind of plastic cover for the tail lights then paint that cover to match the car (so virtually the car would be w/o tail lights except the 3rd brake light in the rear window). Then, if i am speaking about the left tail light, have a large centered red circle on the left hand side, a small centered white circle in the middle where the reverse light is (i have 86-87 tail lights), and in the bottom right side have another red circle but smaller. So the end result would be circular lights coming from the hatch (i have a liftback) and hence looking like the skyline lights do."

thanks again guys! here's a pic to work off of:

Invisioning it in my head makes me thing people would confuse it for a "chevy cobalt taillight conversion"

I think it looks kind of neat, but I def. wouldn't do it. It would probably look better on a coupe, since they have atleast a kind of similar body style.

That really makes the car look like a plastic toy. I mean look at how much they would flex in the rear of the car... It definitely wasn't done with sheet metal, or welding. It almost looks like a piece of fiberglass...

Also, those are Ferrari tail lights. The skyline has a larger red light on the outside, and a smaller white light to the inside. ;) I also agree that it would look better on a coupe... The hatchback style is way too slanted to pull it off properly... But then again, if Ferrari can do it, so can we! ;)

They are not Ferrari tail lights, they are off a r33 Skyline. Though i would prefer the ones you mentioned.

I don't really have anything to add to this thread, other than to say that be careful saying I want skyline tail lights, there are a heap of different kinds. Off the top of my head, in the "hot plate" style there are: Japanese DR30, Australian R31 series 3 sedan, Japanese R31 series 1/2/3, R32 2 door and 4 door (both different), R33 2 and 4 door (both different), R34 (can't remember if they did a 4 door), and R35.

Yeah, there was a 4 door R34. One is used as a drift car, it's kind of funny to watch because it's a goddamn huge car. I really love the Skyline, especially the R32 and R33.

I'm curious why people wouldn't try installing some kind of lexus tail lights on their toyota? Same company makes the lexus, as the toyota, and scion... I kind of like the look of the IS300 tail lights... :)

Do I need to point out that Lexus is a sub-branch of Toyota....

Yes it is. I remember way back in the 90s, like 96, that the camry was the same as one of the lexus models. I was into toyota way back then, also! Mostly because my friend Gary was into them. The camry his mom had was sick! That dark green, on tan leather! :) And it had the gold trim kit, and the darkest tint ever! It was sick as a mother can get! lol But yeah, Lexus has cars that are identical in shape, to the toyota, almost always. ;) Don't be fooled by their higher price, and flashy looks. It's still a toyota!
