Has any one seen this done at all. There are lots of reports of the poor fuel / air mix on the 3sgte in cylinders 3 and 4 due to the engine having a top feed rather than side feed. Most of the other big power 2.0 engines I can think of use side feed and as a result dont suffer the issue. How hard would it be to adapt a 3sge side feed from say a 162 and modifiy it for my engine, now as I run FMIC I am thinking that the plumbing for the T/B will be a lot easier. Thoughts guys, really interested to see what yo think?
st162 sidefeed fits both st165 and st185 cylinderheads 8) The side feed manifold has a larger plenum than the st165 and st185. iirc RickyB and a few others posted some details on celicatech / mr2oc.com etc http://www.celicatech.com/forums/showthread.php?t=30870 http://www.mr2oc.com/showthread.php?t=283158 http://www.mr2oc.com/showthread.php?t=149577 so far we have mocked up, but not installed (yet). datajon cut the groove for the idle control valve. (p.s i'm using the st185 throttle body >>> iirc we enlarged the inlet was enlarged from 54mm to 56mm iirc) small mods required to flip the throttle body 180 degreed to enable use of a st182 / st162 throttle cable. hth
