I believe it's time to paint the bumpers. I do not have experience painting, so these questions may be pretty basic.

Q1. Is there a paint code index for 4th gen's on the web so that I can get the right color? My car is black.

Q2. Should I remove the front and/or back bumper for painting, or keep them on and cover/mask overspray areas.

Q3. My understanding on sequence of steps...

    1. Sand until smooth
    2. Primer - Is this necessary?
    3. Color coat - Is it suggested to put more than one coat?
    4. Clear coat - Again, more than one coat?

Q4. This next question has to do with painting the front window trim dressing and (I have a convertible) the trim around the back part where the top goes down (or just above the trunk). Which paint do I use for the trim?

    Thanks

yes primer is necessary. if you have enough paint do multiple coats(letting it dry, goin back over), and same thing with the clear

you also need flex in the paint.

    Thanks for all responses.

Regarding the last post, what is "flex"?

    Thanks.

The bumpers are flexible, so if you have paint that can't flex on it, it will crack and fall off. You need paint that can flex, it'll say its made to flex or for rubber/plastic. Or if the paint is being mixed, add something that allows it to flex.
