If you use rattle-can primer on your car and then go to get it professionally repainted, do they have to strip off the rattle-can paint first?

Usually before the car gets resprayed, there is a bit of sanding involved.

I would be guessing that it would depend on what sort of waranty coverage you want. I think that if you do the primer and then they spray the paint and it starts to bubble or peel in a month their going to blame the prep work and priming so they may let you do some preliminary body work ie welding in a patch panel and some preliminary body filler work to get it close to final contour but I think if you want the best waranty coverage you would have to let them do final prep and priming and then the painting
