essentially 4-2-1 = low end power, 4-1= high end power. only way to really know would be to dyno each individual set up. A zaust will make a fairly noticeable difference on these cars how ever when you get into minor details like bends or extractor design etc the difference would be minimal
hmmm... id be looking for more mid range!! just to take out most of that delayed shyte when over taking?? what do you think would be best...ill be getting cams later on also so i dont know to get them first or to get a mani...
exhaust and intake are the 1st things you should be doing for an NA. cams i wouldnt bother until after you get a stand alone. Normally id say dont bother at all and say swap a gte but i know you wanna get big power out of the NA
ya...i was thinking of just getting a standalone first because i would gain with that even from what i have now if i just changed the injectors..... and go from there...
if i was you id go -intake -zaust -standalone -injectors -high compression pistons -cams then if still not happy, head work, 5sfe crank
exhaust i dont know much but i do know this of my 1st gen 3s-ge exhaust. Don't know the origin of my headers, they were on the car when i got it. They are 4-1, don't look like any aftermarket ones i have seen, they are rusty metal colour hehe. The exhaust was 2.5 from headers back, apparently gutted cat, straight through muffler. Sounded like a diesel, mates could hear it coming minutes away. for legality, got a 2 1/4 in exhaust from the flex pipe back, keeping the gutted cat for visual looks over the pits, and a generic muffler. 2.5" got me to 210 kmh, top speed for the gearbox or so i read. had less power below 4000, felt like lag sometimes. not enough backpressure for the revs i spose. Real nice howl at 4000, spine tingling. Picked up like hell above 4000 and again at 4800, blew black soot at the following cars, and fucked right off. sound offended most bystanders, neighbors and police. win win win i believe. oh to be 18 again! 2.25 top speed 200kmh, oh so close. more power at lower revs. Still has the howl at 4000+, make excuses to hold it there often. haven't had the chance to test it much above as the engine's clapped out. sounds docile/lame at low speed, but that's cause its a muffler shop cheapie. sound picks up nice later in the revs. if you want to drive like a banshee stick with the 2.5. if you want to drive like you have 2 demerit points left, take a 2.25.
Re: exhaust alot of that lag pre 4k would have been due to tvis. but 210 thats impressive. my ecu has the speed limiter in it so iv never seen more then 160 banghead
don't want to hijack the thread so i've put my story up on my car thread. good times great car average story telling  viewtopic.php?f=57&t=4692&p=60491#p60491 on topic, i plan to rebuild a 3sge with spun big end bearing(s). depending on money i want to build it better than stock, is there a point where you need to ditch the stock ecu for aftermarket?
before you can decide on what "build" to go with 1st you need to know power goals. for the cost of an awesome ge with stand alone you could have a gte with minor mods putting out as much power, probably more reliable and i can almost certainly more economical
