and to answer the original posters question.....

perfomance exhaust for a fourth gen...usually requires quite a bit of custom work...not too expensive if you find the right shop to do it...under $400 easy....

yeah i was pretty tired when i read that sorry for my ignorance i have a 4 inch slash cut tip sort of like that except the pipe is a shorter length from the muffler, i suppose it makes yours look smaller in the pic. i have on mine a 3 inch from extractors to the cat to the resonator then 2.5 inch to the back without mandrel bends cost me only $200 and the muffler was second hand but basically new retails for 200 edit: the new muffler is diy job lol thats why it sits a bit far in but its good doesnt stand out too much which replaced the old one i had on there that the exhaust shop put on total $400

to all you guys in australia with exhausts, did you find it hard to get one?
i need to look into it as mines all rusted lol
will i find most exhaust shops will help me out without having to bend up some 'custom' bullshit?

that custom bullshit that they bend will only cost you around $180 -$220 for a 2.5 inch with a standard sports muffler. and just a plain 3 or 4 inch tip. cost me $200 for that exact setup from the cat back on my old SSS pulsar. just go to any exhaust shop and tell them you want a 2.5 inch cat-back system should be round 200. for mandrel bent exhaust (no kinks in the bends at all consistent 2.5 inch all through) your looking round 300-400 depending on where you go.

    ahh crazy
i was expecting much worse than that lol
im used to prices for exhausts on commodores, always seems to be $800+ for mandrel bent
    i can handle press bent 2.5" ;)
    cheers for the reply man!

yeah, it really depends on where you go.

also commodore exhausts have 1 pretty big muffler towards the rear and a HUGE one near the cat.. i think thats why the commodore systems cost so much extra but with most 4 cylinder cars you can use just one muffler instead.. also pre made brand name exhaust kits will almost always be more expensive than exhaust shop-made pipe installs too.

yeah you make some good points.
ive always thought something bent up in store would cost more
    $200-$300 sounds good though :)
scored my extractors for $20, so that saved me a bit!

2nd gen 4-2-1 header to crushbent 2.25" to resonator back to 2.25" and then to a strait through dual oval tip exhaust. Fuckin loud, with a mix subie sound. no cat btw.

broke my header the other day on cyl #3. Should be getting it welded back up when I get my new transmission on.

hey noobified , mine is going to have the dual tips , 2x 2.5inch , but the rest of my exhaust will be standard tho , inplace of the cat is a resonator

  16. well, what i can offer for information it this:
I looked all over for a good exahust for my 89 celica st. I tried many different systems and i wasnt satified. I found a fourm about APC exhaust and i decied to buy it( its was a universal muffler, but as long as you know how to rig up hangers, youre set, plus it was much cheaper). The muffler was about 40 bucks. Intimidator series APC muffler. I left my stock 2 1/4 pipe to maintain some required back pressure. This has to be the best sounding muffler ive heard. Its not fart can sounding or raspy, but its a constant rumble at all rpms that makes an awesome sound. For everyone who doesnt belive me, go buy one yourself and you will understand. ALTHOUGH, dont go to ebay, most cheap mufflers on the site are remakes and create terrible sound. Buy one from the website or source that carries the exhaust brand. Its also a good idea to buy a cold air intake to add to the tone. I will post a video of the exhaust as well soon.
