    My Convertable Celica

I have gone thru and checked all the fuses, I have checked all grounding wires- I also have check all the bulbs on the cluster and the the brakes-

    So this is the issues:

    Lights that work:

Headlights- high and low beam functions
    All turn signals
    Hazard lights
    Interior lights
    A/C switches
    Mirrors
Gauge cluster gauges/ Not the lights.

    Lights that Dont work:

    Gauge cluster
    Clock
Running lights when the the lights are on in the rear (the actual brake lights work- just not when the regular lights are on)
    Marker lights (none)

I CANT DRIVE THE CAR AT NIGHT- ANYONE HAVE ANY IDEAS?

I would say your dimmer switch is unplugged. That will shut lights to your entire instrument panel But the combination switch might be giving you troubles if your marker lights aren;t wprking either

Well in the case of Running lights & Marker lights

I'll use marker lighs as an example. You have 4 of them 1 on each corner. Therefor 4 wires. At some point these 4 wires all conect down to a single wire which provides 12v. I doubt that all 4 wires are F'KD so you sould trace back to where it is a single wire and try applying 12v at that point. If the markers now light then the problem is somewhere between where you tapped into the wire and the source which would be the light control switch on the steering column.

You could use this technique for all your issues. Get a piece of wire and attach 1 end to 12v. get a pin and wrap the other end of the wire around it. Find a wire you want to test and puncture the wire with the pin. Start close to the bulb and work your way back to the source (ie light control switch) if you test all the way back to the light control switch and the bulb lights every time then it must be an internal problem in the switch itself.

Unplug the connector that attaches to the lighting switch (pictured above) and try applying 12v to the appropriate contacts on the connector not attached to the switch to see if you can get the lights to come on. If you need to know which contacts to use let me know.

If you can get the lights to come on useing this method then it sounds like the problem is in the lightiong switch itself.

Have you checked the switch itself.

If not then unplug it and useing the above diagram.

Turn the switch 1 click and check for continuity between 31 & 20
Turn the switch 1 more click and check for continuity between 31 & 22 and 31 & 20
Turn the switch 1 more click and check for continuity between 31 & 22 and 31 & 23

Alright- We got the problem solved !!!!!

    The Culprit-:
    Right Lic. Plate light !!
So I went and put all new bulbs in the back- Now what happened after replacing the bulbs, the fuse in the kick panel popped as soon as I turned the lights on- The fix I increased the Fuse size to a 20 Amp fuse.

ALL LIGHTS ARE WORKING - NO CODES - NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT !

    Thanks everyone another case solved.

    :D ST162 Rocks Ass !!!
