I am racing an '86 with an automatic.was woundering if it would be benificial to run a throttle body off of a tvis engine? What about the ignitor box and ditributor? can they be swaped from engine to engine? just looking to max out the horsepower while using all stock parts
not to sound too rude or blunt but... you are running a 2s. that engine is mostly part specific. you're stuck. are you allowed to use a 3s engine?
I don't know much about the 2se but I'm guessing If you can't improve engine performance then look at suspension and handling. Especially brakeing for an oval track going into the corners. If you can't get more acceleration exiting the corners then decelerate later going into the corners.
Put a manual tranny in it. Mafix will a 2se engine bolt to a 3sge tranny? You don't happen to have a digital guage cluster in that car do you?
also on you setup. put the fuel pressure reg back in and hook up the o2s. you are sitting in default "pig rich". that will help a bunch. remove the head and change the pistons to raise compression to 11:1 and install oversized valves. port match everything. are you allowed to modify the intake manifold?
We're not supposed to touch anything as per the rules. now what I was thinking is that if the maf was similar I could use one off of the 3s to increase the air flow, same as the throttle body. I could always repin the connector of the maf to match.
Manual tranny will help out a lot. You can run the whole race in 2nd ot 3rd gear, depending on speed you can go on your track. You might need 4th gear to keep the revs down on the 2se. But likely 3rd would be alright. I run in third and I only hit 6300 rpm, and that's at a longer track, so if you're going slower you should be fine. With a manual you get rid of extra weight, and drag losses. Engine power is not nearly as important as good handling. But as mafix said, running with the o2 sensor and fuel pressure regulator with probably give better performance. Reducing wieght has a neglible effect. We have a weight penalty rule here (new for this season), and even after 100lbs added, it still won't slow cars down. You could also try running a 3sfe with any dohc labels removed. Most people have no idea that it's a twin cam, because it only has one external cam gear. You should PM me about suspension setup, I'd like to hear what you have.
as far as weight reduction, the interior has all been removed, all unnessacery parts have been removed. bare bones of a shell.full roll cage that ties into rear bumper and strut towers.
A race Celica with a 2se? I want pics of this, it sounds awesome. I can't help with anything, my 2se Celi got junked before I could learn anything about it.
a 2s-e will hook up with a 3s-ge manual transmission you just have to use the flywheel from the 3s-ge. i am going to use a 3s ecu, wiring harness and maf on my 2s-e.

You kiddin? Even the block can't take GE or FE pistons, manifolds, dizzy etc just won't fit! Cheaper, easier, quicker to go for a FE or GE. All the classes I know have restrictions on 16v heads ie 1600cc 16v = 2000cc 8v = 12A bridge port rotary = 1300cc 8v turbo = 13B Street port rotary, which means your class should allow 4A-GE's and you can use a wider variety of cars. We used that base for our 4 cyl oval hotrods to keep costs down and keep it fair, if someone wasn't up to scratch he was given permission to bore/port his motor further
