I was thinking about doing the LED light conversion in my dash, and replacing the boring stock color, with red. Well, I got to looking, and found something on a 4runner website, and low and behold, I hit this: www.superbrightleds.com . I noticed that they have tail light, and turn signal LEDs also... Does anyone know, which ones might work with our cars? If any at all? Reason I ask, is that I would rather spend the little bit more per bulb, and get more life, with the benefits of less power draw, giving me the power back when I run my lights... I get a little power draw with the headlight/running lights, and the turn signal, all at the same time... Making everything flash...

    Any ideas?

If you do your signals you'll also need to buy a flash fix kit becauase it will sense less power draw and think a light is burnt out making them blink fast all the time...unless you like that....

www.v-leds.com is another place to get them... I had issues with the ones I got for my gauge cluster (5 smt white leds) but they did give me a full refund....

i was thinking of doing the leds in my cluster.... Do the LED Bulbs plug
directly into the bulb housings like the stock bulbs do and they'll work with no adjusting?.

From what it looks like, you match your number up to the bulb type, and then get that specific one. Plug and play, as it looks. As far as the flash fix kit, I might do that. It's not that expensive, and would be worth it, I would think. Anything to keep the power draw way down. You know, if the alternator doesn't have to work as hard, you gain a little power, right? I heard that from someone, a long while back... Who knows about that, though. :D

You don't get something for nothing so the less devices ( altenator/power steering/AC) that your engine has to run the more power your engine can deliver to the wheels.

Unfortunatly in the case of an altenator which is not clutch driven it will deliver a constant amount of power so the only thing you could really do is put a smaller altenator in that requires less power to spin and delivers less amps.

That's true. I feel that pretty much anything that is belt driven, such as fans, etc, are where the power is lost. Luckily all the fans and such are electric... We don't have those issues in these cars. Then again, how many 4 cylinder engines actually have clutch, or belt driven fans? lol None! I just want less power draw, on the lights, so they don't flash as bad, as the stock bulbs... It's irritating sitting at a stop light, in the middle of the night, and having your lights flash with the same current as the turn signals... lol It not only bothers you, but it bothers the people across the lights, from you. I sat in an intersection, across from a vw rabbit that did that, and the power was surging so bad, that the lights almost looked like high beams then low beams!

Either way, I think it would be cool to not have to replace the bulbs all the time, also... I mean over time, it would be cheaper to run these, and not have to worry about the tail lights being out, unless you are hit from behind, or water gets in them, god forbid!

Dam what do you got for turn signal bulbs? Like 500watt bulbs or something.

If you have a good battery/altenator theres no way the turn signals would draw enough current to dim your headlights.

I wouldn't doubt the ground wires are kind of icky... I have a seeping valve cover gasket, and a lot of the underneath of the hood is wet... I wouldn't doubt that it's causing issues... lol Brand new alternator, and the battery will need a change soon...
