I have a motor coming from a 185 with it's harness and ecu, I should be able to mount and fire this thing in my 165 right?
actually, I lied, it'll only work in my car, so you might as well just give it to me............ haha
not exactly, the motor itself will bolt in no prob. the easiest way to get it running is to use the 165 harness and sensors, thus forcing you to use the 165 ecu.
We'll... I would think you'd need a 185 gauge cluster if you were using 185 wiring, etc.... You'd have to swap almost everything that was in the 185 electronically over to the 165 (this is theoretical since I've never done it, but I'm sure someone can clear it up for you)
Well the biggest difference I can see is that a ST165 uses a water to air intercooler so if you use a ST185 engine and wireing harness you will have no connection for the ST165 intercooler pump. I doubt a ST185 engine harness will plug into the ST165 fuse boxes. I doubt the ST185 exhaust will bolt to the ST165 downpipe. I think the cruise control on a ST185 is electronic and the ST165 is vacuum. You will probably have to have the ST185 engine drilled and tapped for an EGR valve I don't think the JDM engines have that hole.
i don't know about the cruise. the 165-205 back is very close and i know the 165-185 downpipe back will bolt up with a little work. fuses?? got me there.
You'll be able to do it, you might need a few parts here and there once you start putting everything together.
Thanks for the boast of confidence. it could be here as early as tomorrow. I got a lot done in tearing down one of my 2 3SGTE's so if anyone's looking for parts, let me know.
If your lucky they were to lazy to remove this plug from the fusebox so you got the whole ST185 fusebox with the harness. If your unlucky then they just cut the wires..... A ST185 fusebox and its plugs A ST162 fusebox and its plugs I don't think any of the plugs are interchangeable with a ST185. The ST165 fusebox is very similar to the ST162 fusebox.
