    That guy is out of his mind.

    $5k for a st165..

    mods list:
    3 in straight pipe from cat to bumper
    --> $250 in exhaust max. No cat though, so it'll fail most CA inspections

    manuel boost controller
    --> I didn't know his cousin made boost controllers... regardless that's a $20 part.

    autometer boost gauge
    --> Well under $100

    aluminium radiator
    --> Depending on type, $200-300

    fresh swap from JPR w/ j-spec gt4 transmission
    --> May be the only GOOD thing on this vehicle

    lowering springs
    --> Willing to bet he didn't do any other suspension repairs and just dropped the car.

    all 4 wheels are locked for agressive launching.
    --> Hopefully this has supporting mods and also willing to bet he has launched it hard multiple times.

    Now, onto the 'bad' list.

    the bad:
    leaks powersteering fluid
    --> Typical, no big deal here.

    radio isn't connected
    --> again, typical. Not an issue.

    a/c needs recharge
    --> Once again..typical. Engine was just swapped, prolly needs a full evac & charg.

    turbo needs rebuild or replacement( lack of power due to the compressor blades are gone)
    --> Wait..didn't it just have a FRESH engine and transmission installed?!!

    In my opinion, I would only pay a MAX of $2500 for that car. To my knowledge there is no 'special j-spec transmission that can operate in 2wd and 4wd with the flip of a switch'. However, there is a way to DISABLE the AWD for testing purposes (ie dyno, troubleshooting, etc) but driving in 2wd mode can cause damage...

    I know that's just Wikipedia, but ChrisD on CTECH (who happens to own a ST165 with a serious modlist) did a write up on how to Dyno in 2WD. Here's the link to that (with BGB pages)
    http://www.celicatech.com/forums/showth ... n-2WD-Mode

    So I'm emailing the guy. Gonna act interested then kick him in the balls with a $2500 offer.

    I don't see how its mean. If the compressor blades are damaged, the bits of metal have to go somewhere. Intercooler, intake, combustion chamber... plus if he did drive the transmission in 2wd mode and 'aggressively launch' it there is a very high chance the transmission or rear drive system could be really damaged.

    If you want to pay $5k for it by all means do. I wouldn't pay over $3k for that knowing what I know about the platform and from what he put in that ad. There is a high chance that vehicle needs a new drive-train from engine to rear axle.

    Lol, no, if I wanted to spend that kind of money on an Alltrac, I'd buy that white one with the 205 motor over on Alltrac.net and club4ag. :p
    I'm just saying, you could probably just tell him that, rather than troll him with a lowball offer. haha
    I wasn't posting his car here for the sake of the sale. No, it was more to tell Jamezzy that there are more modded 4th gens in his area than he might think. :p

    I'm not trolling him.. if he accepts 2500 I'll buy it and tow it here. Then I can rebuild the transmission and drop in my st215 motor.

    Thanks for posting this, last thing we want is to have another celica bought by a member and knowing it was for sale and not warning of the good and the bad parts... i know if i sell a car i give a honest add. i dont leave stuff out. also i think its stupid to say the car is set up for hard launches....
