My custom axels were ready to pickup today, so i did just that.

To those that dont know, these are custom built 4140 high tensile steel axels for my 3SGTE starlet, 5 stud setup. These axels are 29.6mm, and have been nitrided. So when i build the engine to like 500HP, i wont be worried about axels breaking.

What you see before your very eyes are the custom axels VS standard celica axels.

    It's a Glanza?
Welcome to site - I suggest you start a thread under members rides and start from the beginning
Most guys here do this with Corolla's, I would have thought the shafts would need to be shorter, not longer?

The GT4 box you bought will never work without a rear diff, or is that the next installment?

When people say Starlet I always picture the rwd versions

No, when you graduate from vents on your bonnet you get to put them on the roof

Ok boss - seriously it's an old UK hotrod rule (short tar oval)
All cars had to wear the scoop on the roof, different classes had different colours so the fans could make them out easy.
The reigning champ got to wear a gold scoop and as you can see the Starlet was THE chassis to have 20yrs ago, this one has a Vauxhall touring car motor making 300hp++ and built by Mountune in the UK

The orange circle on the rear denotes the car is running on Methanol, compression was around 16-1 but since then Methanol has been banned in all but the sprint cars (you just can't see people burning)

Which brings me back to the 3S-GTE, the most you will get without running E85 (race fuel) is around 500hp
All the cars making over 500hp are all running expensive fuels and can hardly be classed as daily drivers
To make 400hp+ you WILL need a 5S block and crank, the 3S block is known to crack near the waterpump

The axles are known to break for no reason, Mafix has busted one at 350hp and Fernadocelica broke one recently at 160hp. They always seem to break at the start of the outer CV boot.
I think it's more a question of metal fatige vs grip

Driver side assembled, next is passenger side.

As you can see from the comparison pic now, thats a standard starlet GT axel. There is no way on earth i would ever downsize a 30mm steel rod to that skinny toothpic starlet axel, so i had no choice but to convert to 5 stud and have the axel a solid thick soombich.

I have no intention to go to the extent of doing a hybrid 5S/3S engine setup. Its just going to be pure 3SGTE.

Boss ? Sir will suffice thanx :mrgreen

Interesting hotrod stuff Kev, what was the idea with having only 1 screen in the whole car ?

The V8 SuperCars switched to E85 (ethanol blend) in 09', everyone was surprised by the significantly higher consumption rates but still punching out 650+ horses.

Speaking of V8's, I'm a fan of Craig Lowndes. I hope you get the chance to go to Round 3, 20 - 22 Apr ITM 400 Hamilton Street Circuit, NZ. Crank up the camera and go Sleeka spotting for us as well
INXS will we cranking out the tunes with new irish front man Ciaran Gribbin, this dude is a Grammy nominated songwriter/performer who has worked with, amongst others, Madonna, Paul McCartney, Snow Patrol, Groove Armada and Paul Oakenfold. Get your ass trackside Kev it would be a blast.

Willie, Chrysler's street and race technology (SRT) arm have just announced they are interested in joining our V8 SuperCar series, is this the same mob you use ?
If the deal goes thru it will be a monumental transition for us here because we have had only 2 manufacturers in the series since millenia, those being the Holden Commodore and the Ford Falcon.

Commodores have been sent abroad as the Chevrolet Lumina and Chevrolet Omega, with Vauxhall VXR8 sales beginning in 2007. Versions have also been previously exported in the mid-1990s to Southeast Asia as the Opel Calais, and to North America between 2007 and 2009 as the Pontiac G8.
The Vauxhall VXR8 was put thru it's paces on Top Gear with rave reviews, did anyone else see that. It's a heavy car but it still goes like stink

BTW lads, you have one of our expats Marcos Ambrose driving in NASCAR, he is driving the No. 9 Stanley Ford Fusion for Richard Petty Motorsports with veteran crew chief Todd Parrott on the pit box.

Is it just me or can anyone else remember the above ^^^^ Starlet being mentioned/shown here before ????, like mid way thru last year, this has been driving me nuts.

I think I read here somewhere that after 5 posts it becomes automatic approval, it has something to do with security or spam or....... ???
