My 87 gt w/3sfe will not run right. Fresh tune up. AFM and EGR test good. Car idles ruff, worse when warm, idle might drop to 500 rpm but sometimes will rise to 1500-2000 and stay there until I tap on the throttle. Ruff acceleration until above 2000 rpm or so. I do burn a little oil, I think its rings, but does not smoke when driving. I also have a bad exhaust manifod gasket, blown-out on #4 cyl. fixing this weekend. I've adjusted idle, I think the throttle body is out, I can disconnect it with no change. Any help guys would be appriecated.

Did you check the TPS by chance?

scan your car see what code she throws. a tps is just a potentiometer, or a variable resistor if you will. id look into ignition as well if i were you.

I'm going to check the tps this week, has anybody made the gauge that is in the repair manul on this site, need to know if it works before taking off the throttle body. Bad news on the exhaust gasket, the reason it was leaking is that a stud is broken. Could not get it out last night. I'm going to have to drill it out and put in a heli-coil. Has anyone done this repair on an alu. head.

Intake hose is in good shape, no holes or rips. I tried to adjust the TPS this weekend but none of the adjustments would come out right. Seems to run alittle better. Has anybody done this, any advise on getting proper adjustment. I think the TPS is bad.

sounds like the timing belt may ahve skipped.

May be, but I put in a new one in May, along with a water pump and rebuilt the oil pump. Pain in the butt, I triple checked to make sure the timing marks lined up. Ran the same before and after the new belt.
