I recently changed my St165 suspension springs and inserts with lowering springs & AGX cartridges. With these, I like how the car feels on good roads : it turns flat & feels very predictable. I am also wondering if there could be any other part playing a significant role on how the car feel on rough roads. Considering all this, any input or experience in that department would be appreciated. Thanks!
replace the cushion and go back to stock suspension for a "new ride" feel. If the roads are rough and you want to drive comfortable, go to oem spec. If you change to what you have done you could have expected this...
Well, given there are so many parts and parameters that come into play when defining how a car rides, plus the difference in subjective perception, it can sometimes be difficult to have a precise expectation of the end result. Especially with such an old car, and a potentially tired chassis.
At this moment I only have lowering springs on OEM dampers and even then the rough roads are creating lots of noice and some ratlling. I think that is indeed due to the age of the car and it's components which have been suffering for almost 30 years. I am Lucky to live in the Netherlands where 99% of the roads are of good to damn good quality so you don't hear me complaining when I go to Koni yellow's . I hope you can find a solution which provides a smoother ride on the rough roads plus a good handling to your car.
I am in the process of going back to OEM bushings anywhere I can, but this has become very difficult now, as more and more OEM parts are discontinued.
Ive had Monroes front and rear with stock springs in mine for the last 18 months, i hate them. I don't know, maybe i just got a bad set, the car turns well but doesn't handle bumps well at all (yes I've made sure everything is done up tight). If it were a daily it would drive me mad.
