first starts of the day, it take 3 cranks to get it to fire. car cranks fine. it just takes a while to start. problem just came up. starting the car was fine a week ago. if i turn off the car and restart it after a couple minutes, it fires first try. if i let the car sit for more than 15 minutes. its back to a delayed start but not as bad as if i left the car off overnight. i believe fuel is bleeding back into the tank. anyone?

Try some injector cleaner, I believe your start injector is blocking
btw fuel is supposed to circulate back to the tank

cold start injector has been removed and blocked off. vehicle was running fine after cold start injector was removed. this problem just happened a few days ago.

Sounds like the bores may be damaged as a result of running too rich,
    whats the compression readings?

compression test done right after problem started. it was 138 all across the board (engine has less than 500 miles on it).

I'm out, it's doing what it's supposed to do

Try spraying some fuel into the manifold, if it starts easy the start injector needs to go back in,
I'd like to know why you removed it?, what other changes did you make?

Check the plugs if they're fouled and/or replace them

sparkplugs are also new. cold start injector was removed after doing a 3sge side feed intake manifold. what i also found today was that a heavy smell of gas was coming out of the tailpipe after it stumbled to life after a few cranks. also black soot on the muffler and possibly black smoke when starting. i believe fuel is leaking into the combustion chamber after shut down. like i said, car runs fine after being started. car is parked for now until i figure this out. im really leaning towards the injectors leaking. does anyone have a good set of used stock 3sgte injectors they wanna sell?

okay problem is confirmed. injector is leaking fuel into the cylinder in cylinder number 1 and 4, #1 being the most significant. will need to buy new injectors. i found a set for a 7mgte supra top feed 440cc. i heard they were the same. can anyone confirm? thanks.

We could have solved this ages ago with more info!
Please guys, tell as much as you can before wasting other's time -
A small, insignificant detail ie. leaking injectors could make all the difference and eliminate a lot of guessing

    FE g1 = 195cc
    GE g1 = 220cc
    GTE g1/2 = 440cc
    GTE g3 = 540cc
These cars must be thirsty as ........

umm the problem was the leaking injectors. if i knew the injectors were leaking fuel into the combustion chamber i wouldnt have posted :D

hey stig, my car in the morning does the same thing after being left 6 hours or more. 3 extended cranks to get it going. i pulled the CSI out and started the car and i saw no fuel spraying out.

    few questions:
should i take out the fuel line to the CSI to see if there's fuel shooting out as well?

anyone know which pin is which on the CSI? so i can put 12v to the csi like on this bgb page:

    Looks similar

I'd just loosen the pipe to the CSI and see if any fuel escapes, that would isolate a bad CSI/switch
Check the cold start injector switch
If no fuel escapes you need to check the pump is running
