replacing the hole cluster with custom gauges?

can it be done, would it be illegal to remove the factory speedometer even if installed a new one?

What i am thinking is buying these gauges and retro fitting my current cluster to place these into it.

(why you may ask is because i needed new gauges and i need a new speedometer anyway, so since i am replacing the bulk of my gauges why not just replace them all.)

the only problem you'll run into is milage for inspections and geting a speedo to work with the stock ssending unit. there is no cable made and you'll have to fab one up.

Just so everyone knows, for legal reasons (at least in ohio) save your old instrument cluster. But when we do any kind of title work here we have to state wheter or not the odometer reading is actual.

Trying to insert gauges into your stock cluster is a pita. One problem is the clearance behind them. Next, You also have to deal with the flexible circuit board that is on it . And lastly trying to do it and make it look like you didnt use a butter knife to cut in to it.

Also, Mafix is correct you will need to fab a speedo cable. Which is another pita. I searched endlessly. I ended up buying a replacement one for a ford or something from autozone and taking parts from both and making one.

I have been super busy at work the last few weeks I will try and make a write up along with a drawing on how to wire it all complete with leds for turn sigs and idiot lights.
