well, it seems as tho i have blown the o-ring in a few fuel injectors and also blown a hole in my intake manifold gasket.... prob the 2 hardest places to get to in the engine.... wish me luck its gonna be a long week (or few) trying to work on it in between work! ps: its not idling, idles REALLY really rough till it stalls itself. plus i think its only running on 3 or less cylinders. running lean AND the throttle is hesitant until about 3 grand where you cant notice it as much... and btw this is on my newly purchased celica... what a bummer! on a lighter note, i got my new exhaust on; a 2 1/4" from the cat back into a lukey original muffler... has a nice note to it. but i never really got a chance to drive it when the car was running properly. and i have to wear it in a bit. then im guessing it will sound EVEN better
Wow I didnt know it was possible to to that to the injector! How do ya plan on getting to them top or underneath?
well, i can get to the injectors from the top (removing the fuel rail and getting my hands in there) hopefully and mafix, i thought it was a paper gasket for the intake? i believe there are two of them for the intake... an inner and an outer? am i right? i ordered the gasket set 2day. it arrives tomorrow. fingers crossed THEY know which one it is!
Remember to get those injectors to me after you've got them out and I'll get them sonically clean with new seals put in them.
how much was that again? im already hating those god damned stupidly designed locking clips on the wiring harness!!! they are driving me insane! is there some sort of tool that gets them off fast? im never gonna remember where all those little vacuum lines go to and from lol when can you get those injectors cleaned? and how long will it take? cause i was gonna get it all done by sunday.... but that goals seeming less likely the more i work on it lol
I'll probably be able to get it done free, or failing that $20 including seals I'm owed a few favors at the moment. They will need to be cleaned at the workshop, and it will probably take an hour. I need them by Saturday at the latest though. If you get stuck, I've got the BGB that shows you a nice exploded diagram of where those vacuum lines go. Glad to see your having fun with the injector clips As far as I know there is no tool for those, other than a bit of wire to hook the little locking clip off. Have fun!
hahaha i had nightmares about those clips all snapping off and breaking! nar not really, but they ARE driving my a little crazy! wanna swap with your series 2 harness?? oh and i found one of the injector clips already broken, but it still clips in ok. just clips out without having to move that metal first! on cylinder 2 well, im aiming to have them out by this arvo, so i will make a trip to yours on saturday morning. then take them home and put them back in and finish the gasket off.... easier said than done lol
well, i started work last weekend (just lazy with the update) and i got the injectors out only to find that the pintle cap and actual pintle itself was snapped off :? dont know how it happened but it did and i can only hope the little bit of metal got blown out my exhaust and not lodged somewhere in my valves or anywhere else... so i got the others cleaned and im still looking for a replacement injector. then i un-bolted the intake manifold (after a shit load of pulling things out) and found that the inner gasket was blown out in 2 separate places!!! replaced both the gaskets and bolted up the intake and put everything back on except the fuel rail and injectors and surrounding things. NO WONDER IT WAS RUNNING LIKE A DOG!!!! it was only running on 3 cylinders and had a blown gasket! hope it hasnt caused much more damage! i didnt drive it for long while it was like that.... anyways, ill putting it all back together this weekend and ill get her up and running sweeeeeeet again! *EDIT* Brogan drove me around in his own time, to try and find some injectors for me for hours on end. thanks brogan haha he also got my injectors cleaned for free and all new seals put on them for a small price to come.... thanks again lol
Oh, so don't give me any credit for spending like 4 hours driving around trying to find another injector after I cleaned the other 3 for you Let me know when those others turn up from Perth, I'll get them cleaned up with new seals and you should be sweet.
