illinois doesn't if your car is over 20 years old. So that means i dont have to worry about emmisions!

I think Texas has them but they're probably not as strict as CA... I know Houston at least does...

from what I've heard, you can get the car registered in a small town though and they usually don't care about the emissions... just find someone who looks shady enough to not care.

found out yesterday... there are no emission laws in Texas other than city and county (Harris County has them for sure). however, they will check and make sure your exhaust etc. is all intact-- so you can't drive pass inspection without a cat etc.

Ugh... I'm moving to Ventura, CA next month. I'm not even sure if my '88 will even pass emissions. If it doesn't, is there anything I can do besides buying a new car?

Well I'm not exactly sure what to do to fix a 'potential' emissions problem. I just figured it might have an issue due to the car's age. There has never been any problems with exhaust leaks or smoke or anything, so I might be worrying about nothing.

you can pay the maximum repair cost whatever that may be...it's $500 for Ontario, Canada's, emission limit....
