Tags are up at the end of the month. Went to the Inspection station and Failed. So Here are the results. I would appreciate if you guys could tell me what you think my problem might be. This is on my wifes GTS. First Test HC 448 at IDLE CO 2.6056 HC 467 at 2500 RPM CO 2.8318 at 2500RPM This is the requirements. HCSTD >220 COSTD >1 Went home and Replaced: NGK V-Power Spark Plugs Distributor Cap Rotor Plug Wires K&N Cone Filter Oil Change with new filter Whole Can of Seafoam Second Test HC 301 at IDLE CO 4.2058 at IDLE HC 334 at 2300 RPM CO 4.6535 at 2300 RPM O2 Sensor ? How do i test it?
Got a couple Temp fixes that i have used in the past Try running a tank or 2 of a grain fuel (in Canada you get it at Mohawk), Grain based fuels run cleaner also head in after the engine has been runnning for a bit (take a nice 1hr drive on the HWY and get that engine hot)
I dont know were to get a grain fuel here in the states. Also whent again this morning drove for about 1 hr 50 miles and still fail. I also turned the distributor a little to the left to lean the timing. Here are the result of the third try HC 327 at Idle CO 2.048 at Idle HC 299 at 2500 RPM CO 1.9946 at 2500 RPM
How far from passing are you? I failed it it was only a couple points over on the NOx. Guy running the test said clean the egr and retry. Anyone cleaned the egr before?
reset the timing to 10 degrees and leave it there. are you heating the car up for 20 minutes? drive the shit out of it for 20 minutes then go test.
Yeah I warm it up with a cruise on the freeway. I passed today. I drove it around for 3 or 4 days. Before all of this i was running without O2 sensor. (long story) I put one in before i first tested. I then was thinking the ECU was probably throwing a code about the O2. So i figured it thought it still didnt have one. So I reset the ECU. Went and tested. HC 58 at Idle CO 0.48 at Idle Was it the driving around for 3 or 4 days after the seafoam or was it the resetting the ECU?
