Thats is a BVSV Valve aka: Bimetal Vacuum Switching Valve. The BVSV valve allows vacuum to flow through the system depending on engine coolant temperature. The bi-metallic element within the switch reacts to temperature changes, opening or closing the valve at a pre-determined level. It's part of the egr system and if you don't have a aircare or something similar then you don't need it.
Are you getting rid of the whole egr system?

For EGR removal all of those things in the bottom picture can be removed. Just be sure to plug up all the holes/lines and you're good to go.
