If there are no codes when you check (do the paperclip thing) then the light will just blink.

    on for 0.25 sec
    off for 0.25 sec
    on for 0.25 sec
    off for 0.25 sec
    on for 0.25 sec
    off for 0.25 sec
    on for 0.25 sec
    off for 0.25 sec

for ever and ever until another code is detected.

go to photobucket.com and put the pic there and send me a link and I'll show you how to post it here. If you can't get it put on photobucket.com then
send me the pic of the plug at the back of the intake manifold that is not connected realtimestrategy@aol.com then I'll post it.

ok i emailed the photos to you, the connection has a oval shaped head and its right under the intake manifold. i saw a similar shaped connection in the back hooking up to the bottom of one of the EGR(i could be wrong, but i believe that is what i was looking at). also, is there a way to check if im getting the proper amount of air to fuel ratio going into the engine? im really stuck on this one and i have not the slightly clue why it fires up just fine a couple times then after a few starts it wont. is there a way to test to my sure my MAF isnt malfunctioning? i dont know if i mentioned this before but when i changed the spark plugs, the old ones had a lot of gas on them still, i dont know what that could mean but i starting to move from an ignition problem to something else, like too much gas is burning out the spark once i get the car started? but is that possible once i have started the car, or is there not enough oxygen getting in with the fuel? could my 02 sensor be a problem? man i love these cars but this one is seriously bending me over doggystyle

Well it's dark out now and I'm busy tomorrow but my camry has a 3sfe engine in it so I'll check on friday and see if I can discover where that plug should go.

To me it does sound like a fuel related issue but lets see if we can get that plug figured out and maybe that will help the situation.

    Heres a pic of a 3sfe.

Could you use the co-ords I've added to give me an idea of where this plug is located.

For example if the plug is where I have placed a red X the co-ords would be

    Top pic Between B & C at 3.5
    Bottom pic C at 3

If your O2 sensor was F'd youd get a code 21.

If your running to lean youd get a code 25 (if you had a 3sge)
If your running to rich youd get a code 26 (if you had a 3sge)

i would say on the graph i would 6-a / 6-b area on the first pic, on the second pic its closer to the air assembely, like right under the tubing that goes from the MAF to the Intake manifold

also i got my friend coming over who also has the exact same year celi as mine and imma search his car like i searched mine, also im gonna switch our MAF's to make sure its not the MAF. ill keep you updated

quick update my friend brought his celica over, checked his out, that connection is also not connected to anything on his, so its not the problem, also we switched MAF's and that didnt help at all, everytime, it still shuts off immediately and does a clicking sound when it does. i think its time for a bottle of jack to the head.

quick update, i took the car to a shop, come find out the current ecu that was in there was for a gts, and i have an st, so imma get that switched out on friday and see if that makes any difference, besides that the mechanic cant find anything else thats wrong, the engine is gettin fuel and good spark, so we'll see if the ecu is being a bitch.

Well I can definetly see where that may be a bit of an issue. Considering that out of the 3 plugs only the plug on the left has any signals in common.

The left plug has E01 E02 STA IGT E1 NSW in common.
The middle plug has no signals in common
The right plug has no signals in common and the 3sfe plug has alot less conections

So seeing as you have STA & IGT in common between the two I can see where it would start and as soon as you stop cranking the starter it dies.

Best of luck. The correct ECU should certainly help alot.

thx for the clarification, the new ecu is supposed to be here on the second of jan. and we'll see what the shop tells me after that, i cant imagine what else could be the issue

the mechanic i was dealing with before this one forced me to leaern about my car because this dude was just terrible, aparently, so i bet he didnt know wtf he was doin so i dont know. i saw the ecu that came out, it was 89661-32321 and the one i put in was 32351, it was a 3sfe ecu, but for some reason it wasnt the one for my car? i dont know the details ill be glad to pick it up tm though. oh and meph im missing a crucial part for my AC, i dont know what its called but my gf just got a great digital camera so ill take pics, also i know i have a cracked or leaking driver side axle, and i have some wiring issue in the car where the dome light doesnt work and the doors dont make a sound when they're open like they used to. anyway ill get back to you gets with pics tm of my sweet ride :)
