Hi, I tried using the search function but didn't really get an answer. I'm looking at a used 1986 gts M/T. What are some common problems with this car and what should I look out for when I inspect the car before buying it?
May want to check power steering pump and high pressure hose. Also valve cover gaskets and oil pan gasket. May also have seepage from front and rear main seals. Mine has had all of the above haha ... Check struts too etc Vicdat
Rust - check the bottom of the front mudguards, around the rear strut towers, the spare wheel well, and around the windscreens. Otherwise just usual 30-year-old car issues as Vic mentioned.
Heater control panel will have intermittent heat issues. The motherboard needs to be re-soldered. Rear quarter window seals may be leaking water into the trunk.
