Hey guys my gearbox is on its way out my question is, what s series box has the best ratios, looking for the largest final drive available, i will also be throwing a kaaz or trd 1.5 way lsd in thanks in advance
By largest you mean the shortest gearing? Best would be a JDM box from a later ST20x car, I believe the Beams cars already have LSD. Most non JDM are 3.9 which is good for economy but lousy for acceleration, jdm's mostly are 4.1 which helps explain why the jdm's make much more power
Yes that's what I mean I want a direct fit box would it be better to put a 4.1 crown wheel in a s53 ? Or is a beams box a direct fit into a st162
Yes direct fit, just swap your mounts over LSD boxes use different shaft inners, you'd have to mod some up and use the outboard starter as well which is far better/common You can't swap crownwheels without swapping the final gear shaft as well = TOTAL rebuild Check my thread for more info and pics of my ST182 box swap
shall check it out found out i have a s53 3sfe gearbox sigh has a 3.7:1 final drive so my thought would be run the stock s54 which is apparently a 4.1:1 rebuild it throw an kaaz lsd in
