    Greetings,

Well, I finally walked outside and took some pics of the sad celica. It was in the shop for a couple of days, needed an allignment. I paid $350 and they said it might not be alligned. They had to replace a front lower ball joint and and an inner tie rod on the other side. Has anyone else had to repeatedly replace lower ball joints or I am just a bad driver? One thing is for sure, if you hit a curb expect to buy a new tire!!

Well, as soon as I get a day to escape the normal I will visit a salvage yard close that claims to have several of these sweet cars. I will take pics if I think to bring the camera. Has anyone noticed the enormous amount of 4th gen. celica parts on ebay?

    Cheers,

    Lisa

Have you had a bodyshop check out the damage and make sure the front frame isn't bent.

It looks to me like the front took a real good hit at spot A and as a result the part that is pointed to by B looks to be bent a bit. The piece that is held up there by the 2 bolts holds a transmission mount which prevents the engine/tranny from rotating to much and helps align the engine/transmission with the drivetrain.

    thank you!!

Thanks for the replies. I do need to visit a body shop and will let you know how my progress of repairing this ride goes. Too bad I can't drive worth a sh*t because I love my car. I was checking out another 4gen (the car was super sweet) when I had this whammy.

I wonder, would I be able to take from and use the front frame from another car? I plan to gather as many parts as possible from junk yards to keep my repair costs low.

    Thanks again guys,

    Lisa

I'm confused, why did those guys do an alignment before they straightened the front end first :?

    well..

I took it to a tire shop to have it alligned because the car was all over the road. The tire shop replaced a tie rod and lower ball joint but they couldn't properly allign the car. I have not taken it to a body shop yet.

I would try measuring from the center of the left bumper nut to the center of the right bumper nut and you should get 970mm or 38.19".

If that measurement is okay then I doubt your frame is bent.

For replacement parts everything that I can see would be bolt in with the exception of the lower cross brace that runs between the 2 frame rails with the big DENT in it pointed too by a red arrow. This piece is welded in so your best bet is to go to the junk yard and get one that is cut out of another celica somewhere around the green lines, get as big a piece as possible it can allways be cut down later to fit. Then make sure the frame is straight and the distance between 2 bumper bolts is correct (970mm) and cut out the old bent up piece and trim the new piece to fit in place and weld it in.

From what I can see you will need

    - bumper
    - grill
    - hood
    - bracket for headlight
    - the part you need to cut out of another celica
    - front to rear cross member ( the piece pointed to by the yellow arrow)
    - radiator ( yours looks a little curved now)
    - AC fan shroud
    - AC radiator ( i don't actually see the AC radiator in the pic so it may have allready been removed or is in a different location than a GTS)
    - bracket that the hood latch mechanism and horns bolt too

it is straight, I hope anyway

    Thanks for the details,

I measured between the two bumper bolts and it measures 970mm. That is good! Thank you for the help. I can't wait to post pics of this car after it is fixed, although it is just a coupe.
    Thank you,

    Lisa

    the car is fixed now!!!!!

Got the car back from the shop yesterday. Looks great (better than before). Amazing, the parts from the junkyard were the same color as my car. How lucky. Still plan to paint it and you will notice that the pasenger side headlight is different. Thanks for all your help.
    total cost was $780.00 USD

If you don't still have the old drivers side headlight you should see if you can get it back from who ever did the repairs. Both the painted top metal piece and the plastic front piece are removable from the headlight assembly and from the top pic the plastic piece at least does not appear to be damaged and they would match the rest of your car.

If you want to go grey for the plastic piece and can't find a passenger side one I have one...maybe two probably 3 of them laying around.
