i finally got my car towed home. the car has a rigged up evo 9 fmic. i plan on keeping the front mount so i'll be redoing some of the messed up piping. i noticed that the intake manifold on the car is a 3sge side mounted throttle body style. would i be better off putting back the 3sgte intake manifold or keep the current manifold? i also got all the a/c components with the car in a box. would be able to fit these back on w/ a front mount? pictures will be up soon as soon as my gf finds the camera cable.

keep the GE manifold. it's an upgrade from stock

could we make a picture of this so I also know what you mean?

As I have 3sge and will swap to Te :)

taking the 3sgte central inlet manifold off, and instead using the side feed 3sge manifold. they both bolt up same, but imo the flow and plumbing for a FMIC is much better using the side feed rather than the top feed.
Evos, cosworths, all use side feed rather than top feed.

thats really good to hear. im still modifying the intercooler pipes to the evo 9 front mount. i have the cold side sort of done. its all mocked into place and t-clamped. after i finish the hot side, i'll take the pipes out again to make some single piece pipes. right now im using a lot of couplers  .

a couple of questions i need answered:

what size coupler do i need for the turbo outlet?

what size is the turbo inlet?

should i clock the turbo or leave it?

do i really need the cold start injector? (its allready blocked off)

    nope cold start is crap
    turbo outlet 2.25
    turbo inlet 3
    clock the turbo

That is very interesting, how is this a upgrade? It seem the 3sgte intake mani will deliever the air more evenly.

use coldstart sa water injector, like st205 does... :)

but. how many times u must crank in the morning at -15 °c to start your engine
    mafix :)))))))))))))))))

Are you saying it uses a similar set up like the st205?

the major advantage is for colder, shorter and strighter intake piping as you dont have to have the pipe running over the turbo manifold or have massive bends and longer route to avoid the manifold.
as rish also said bigger inlet and better flowing. Im not sure about the 165 gte's but on the 185s for sure i kno it is sposes to greatly improve flow rate between cylinders.

plus IMO looks a shit load better :p

The main advantage I think is the fact that the intake for the cylinders is not drawn over the top of the engine, no 3 cylinder on our cars with the stock set up is prone to runing hotter. In fact my map at present, give a fraction more fuel in this to combat the effect. With the side feed, the air has a much better route from the turbo and intercooler and the dynamics of the side air box mean a more efficient way to split and spread the air into each port.
Most turbo cars run side feed manifolds, cosworths, Evos etc, it was a design for packaging, once toyota decided to go with the top mounted charge cooler etc, that saw the use of a top feed system.
The 205 WRC came with fittings for WI, but that was not activated for road use. I junked my cold start inj once I got the ECU, imo it does very little in the uKs climate.

my car starts just fine. never have an issue.
i guess that's the difference from a professional tuner and a backyard guy.

Interesting how about using the intake mani of the beams engine?

not a bolt up, completely different head

beams won't work. you have to use a TVIS manifold.

Ic I was just wondering cause is the same family but the beams seem to be its own family. WHICH SUCKS BALLS cause dual vvti or even vvti will do good, alot of good.

TVIS works just fine if used correctly.

I have nothing against tvis is just I don't feel it like a vvti or vvtli pull :D
