3sge.. 1st,2nd,3rd, gen. evoution info

I am going to list them starting with the first gen and then the changes IE like manifolds oil pums and stuff.

    1st gen. moust comin in the us market. has TVIS. one plenum 8 intake runers 50 degre valve angel. twin cam with shim adjutment for valve lash. standerd oil system. (crank shaft splters oil on to the cylinder wall) "flat top" pistions. ok verey basic.

    2nd gen the same block. the same oil system same water pump. on the blok oil coler is added. fits in place of the old oil filter. and the filter fits on top. good for keeping the oil around 216/240 degres farinhight. water is pumped in to the oil cooler frome the bybass hose. NEW CRANK!! biger crank with larger conter whigets and uses biger bolts for the flywheel. NEW FLYWHEEL still fits in bell 87 bell housing. NEW PISTONS. slightyl domed for higer comprestion. NEW ROD BOLTS. same rods new bolts rated for 300 hp. SMALER intake and esust ports. same intake and exsust ports bolt patern as the 1st gen. same timing components. NEW MANIFOLD 2 plenums! air flow is changed at hige rpm. manifold "wraps" over the valve cover.NEW CAM SHAFTS higer lift. NEW DISTRIBUTER NEW ideal control. ISC valve insted of vacum control. NO COLD START INJECTOR. SAME BLOCK!!thats all the changes I can think of for now.. a lot of the 2nd gen parts you can still get in the us. in the form of 91 celica alltrac or 91 MR2 3sgte

    3rd gen (my favorit) NEW OIL SYSTEM!! new it has spray jets in the block to spray oil on the exsust side of the pistons. plus a new pump the oil filter is relocated to under the oil pan. oil pan comes in two parts. one aluminim taht bolts to the tansmition, one steel for the pick up and a new oil pump. NEW COOLING SYSTEM water pump is now more than dubeld in size and flow rate. NEW OIL COLER. oil coler replaces oil filter location frome the old models and gets its water flow directyl frome the water pump and back to the block. good for keeping the oil 145/190. (in 98 degre wether I have never sean the oil go past 200 not evean on race day!! NEW MANIFOLD higer flow rate for mid to hige rpm range. and a larger throtal bodie. new manifold has a difrent bolt patern. WILL NOT FIT ON GEN1/2. NEW PORTS. larger (but not as large as 1stgen) that are rounded off to an ovil shape insted of the squarish 1/2nd gen plus the ports are machined afret casting (factory port polish) NEW RODS rated for 450 hp. NEW PISTONS higer comprestion. NEW VALVE SHIMS. valve lifters are now one pice insted of buckt and shim. NEW CAM SHAFTS. higer lift then 2nd gen plus longer duration. (rughf idel) NEW TIMING COMPONETS!!! timing belt is ONE tooth shorter! and now has difrent sized gears and a hydrolic belt tentoner. NEW FULE RAIL! still fits all toyota injectors. NEW CRANK CAS VENTALATION!! two ventalation points and rates per RPM SAME BLOCK!!

    now parts... thats reall JDM. almoust NO PARTS are avalibul in the US.. ( I had to get my timing belt frome the UK.) some parts like thermosts and cap and roters are avalibule. BUT THATS IT!! if you need a part you hafe to have the part number. some toyota dealers can get you thesse parts frome over sees. and when you do that BUY TWO!
