Thanks for the compliment, but I reckon I can find more than enough things on my car to be done .
I thought it was time for an update as I'd not contributed here in the little while.
First off I had to take the car for its MOT (UK road safety check) which it passed with no advisories so I celebrated by driving many trips with my other half and one of which was to the coast.
The summer/autumn passed and during my visits to the UK the Celica performed well as usual with exception to a slightly low idle speed. However, the only thing I did was keep it clean and drive it.
Come Christmas I had a little time between family visits and all the rest so out she came from a few months hibernation.
I'd been offered good money for my stereo and in all honesty, it was annoying me so out it came.
I bought myself a JDM ECU from Stig and was keen on trying it out so with the inside all in bits and access was easy, I swapped the ECU's over.
While being very much aware of the placebo effect I can say it was a little more eager at low revs perhaps and my idle was once again spot on so it stayed.
I fished out some old Alpine bits I had in the loft to replace the stereo I sold off. They were in good condition but I had to solder in a few new LED's so it would light up like it should.
Fiited it all, reinstated ashtray and its lighting...
I think its all the better for it.
One thing that bugged me also was the parcel shelf. I'm all for originality but mine bounced around allot, was a little broken and looking tired what with being threadbare at the edges.
I bought some acoustic carpet as its not too thick and made a start wrapping the shelf.
I used a contact adhesive along with plenty of clothes pegs to secure the new material in place. While I was at it, decided to do the underneath as well to smarten it up.
(the glue lines vanished with a bit of cleaning using white spirit)
It took plenty of trimming and messing about but it came up looking really nice and fitted well.
And other than fixing a rattle in the drivers door, that's about it!
that parcel shelf looks really good !
Your car looks like new :shock
Celica looking pristine as always Chris. Two great jobs you've done, stereo must look very pleasing to the eye at night and that parcel shelf, the result speaks for itself, looks like it came out of the Toyota factory
Sorry for not replying sooner. Many thanks for the comments, very kind.
Yeah I'm really glad I sorted out some bits that were bugging me...especially that parcel shelf. It was worth having glue in my hair, clothes and some on the dog at one point...
Hi Chris, yes having glue on your hair and dog is worthwhile when you see the end result. I have always thought that black suits our shape very well indeed.
Hope all is well in life and work.
