Hey guys so I have a couple of questions first off what Would I need to turbo my 86 Celica. what do I need for engine management and also what do I get for the turbo kit.i saw couple of them on ebay but I'm not too sure or should I just get a engine with a turbo and just swap it in with my tranny also how much work would that be to install the harness on to my car are they different

put the 3sgte in, much easier and problem free compared to Turbo DIY ;)

    Re

    I had to reply.

It is _Not_ cheaper to buy a gte engine. Unless you find an engine from a friend of yours.
It might be easier to install but usually hunger gets bigger by eating. My point is that once you get that 180hp gte installed to your gts, not long time you want more power.
I bought parts for boosting my ge. Not ready yet, will report when done :lol

I agree with lonewolf its alot easier and more reliable to just swap in a 3sgte

    short list:
gte ecu and harness and ignitor and afm and throttle body and idle control unit
    gte exhaust everything including turbo
    gte oil pan
    aftermarket oil cooler
    aftermarket radiator
    gte water lines
    gte tvis electronic valve
gte vacuum hard line (under intake manifold)
you have to modify the ge manifold to fit the gte throttle body
    aftermarket fmic
gte fuel rail and injectors and regulator
    aftermarket high flow fuel pump
fe transmission or the weird jdm ge transmission which has the starter usable on both sides...either of them you will destroy after a few launches
fe clutch disk only if you use that trans
you may have to swap the flywheel, there seems to be a bit of confusion with all the flywheels Toyota put on these

that's the very short list. there are many more part you'll need if you can find all of that for less than the gte swap (you will still need a trans)

if you have a 6 bolt main engine (only very few 3sge's have these) you should strongly consider NOT doing anything but a swap (even if to another ge)

there is a reason all the people who know say just to get a whole swap. you are more than welcome to do it the hard way and spend 3x as much.
