    Hello fellow Celica enthousiasts!

I've been wandering this forum as a guest for a while now and decided it was time to join it so I could enjoy this forum more. I'm from the Netherlands and have owned my 4th gen Celica for almost a year now. It's a Toyota Celica 1.6 ST from 1987. Let's show some pictures:

I hope to meet some people on this forum to share my Toyota passion with and to hopefully find some parts I'm still searching for.

    Regards,

    Sebastiaan

Welcome! Thanks for sharing your pictures, that's a really nice clean car

Does it have a 4A motor in it?

    Hi
You didn't include a location on your profile, so there is no location under your avatar.
We didn't get many engine choices in Australia so you must be somewhere north of Matt or me.

Looks good on the outside, hope you have a clean interior too.

Welcome from the UK Sebastiaan  Nice looking Celica you have. I haven't seen one with a glass sunroof and a aerial on the front wing before.

There is one member on here called "Lonewolf" who's from the Netherlands.

Would like to see some interior photos please :)

  5. Welkom on boord !

    Uw Celica is zeer mooie.

Hey Sebastiaan ! Leuk een nederlander hier op het forum te zien, waar kom je vandaan. ik ken je auto nog niet.

Hi Sebastiaan! Nice to see a fellow dutchmen on the boards, where are you located in the netherlands? I didn't know your 4th gen yet.

Thanks for the warm welcome guys!

I'm from Hoogeveen -> Drenthe -> The Netherlands -> Europe. Nice to see fellow dutch man around here :D

This Celica has the 4A engine, absolutely not the best of the Celica engines. To be honest, its not even Celica worthy in my opinion. But I enjoy my Celica anyways! I'm more of a 'cruising' kinda guy so its not much of a problem for me. But sometimes a little more speed wouldn't hurt.

It is a clean car, but it has its dents and rust spots. As a matter of fact, I picked it up from the welder last weekend. The Celica had its right rear gaurd/fender repaired because there was some rust near the wheel arches. In the upcoming weeks its getting a respray on the right side of the car.

I haven't got any good pictures of the interior yet. It's clean and almost damage free. Only the drivers side doorpanel has a damaged area near the doorhandle. It still has the original Toyota radio in there! I will get some pictures of the interior soon, its way too cold in The Netherlands now to be taking pictures of your car :p

I have no big plans with the car for the time being. I like it the way it is. I do want to improve the overall condition. That's why I'm still looking for some parts like a good doorpanel and the cover for your trunk (parcel shelf?).

Sorry for the wall of text! :p

the parcel shell coverthing is impossible to find and if you find one it's in shitty condition like mine is lol. I still have to make me a new one from MDF wood 4mm or something like that. I have some parts still for sale (look at the for sale section) and if you want some more speed, maybe the 4age is an option or a 3sgte swap like mine :) allthough that is quite expensive when you also have to buy the engine which I allready had.

Maybe we'll meet up at some meeting in the netherlands (check www.celicas.eu where I'm active as well, I'm one of the founders).

    Welcome, nice car

For the parcel shelf I would avoid using plywood or mdf, it's heavy and will warp at some stage

Whatever engine you decide to use, you will need a complete unit with box, mount's, shafts, radiator etc as well as upgrading the (Corolla) brakes.
I'd keep the 4 bolt hubs/rims and fit some GT4 front disks/calipers, just drill the disks and it bolts right on.

    gaan goed

I have no plans to change the engine. Mainly because I don't have any space available to change the engine. Also if for example I would change to a 4A-GE I would want the complete package. Meaning correct looking interior, exterior, etc. It all has to look OEM. But maybe thats just me being weird :p

Using aluminium sheet for the parcel shelf is a nice idea, didn't thought about using that!

And also the front struts / springs, because the 4A weights less.

Welcome, you have a nice car. Get some oem rear wings, some nice rims of your like, and you are done :) I wouldn't even touch the engine, I think it's a very good one, and not that weak at all (and also quite rare nowadays).

Sebastian, your car looks nice and clean, but you have mentioned some rust in the wheel arch that you have just repaired.
Have you checked for rust (or rust repairs) around the sunroof?
Have you lifted the rear hatch rubber next to the latch and rustproofed?

    Wheels?
Look for bolt-on hub centric wheel spacers that also convert from 4 bolt to 5 bolt.Choose your wheels to suit and a suitable offset to give your car a wide stance.

    Engine?
I think you should keep your 4A while it is reliable.
When the time comes to upgrade, get a front cut from a donor that has engine, brakes, suspension, ECU, abs, etc.Get newest stuff that can be transferred over. Something from 199x

    Rear spoiler?
Don't use screws. Get a replica or aftermarket. Mine is replica series one and is glued on and been good for 25 years. :)Other series one Celicas that l have seen with series one stock spoiler have rusted at the screws and clips.

The rust near the rear hatch rubber has also been repaired. There is no rust near the sunroof, mainly because its an aftermarket one. Also no rust around the front windshield.

I'm not going to change anything on the car, no change in wings, wheels or anything for that matter. Just keeping it clean and replacing parts that needs replacement. I'd rather use the money that I would spent on upgrading this car for a 4th gen that has an 4A-GE or 3S-GE engine from the factory. If I came across a nice looking 4A-GE 4th gen I would problaby buy that one.

I just want to enjoy and use my current 4th gen without getting into a huge project car :wink

Wait a sec, I thought you have a 4A-GE currently. So what engine do you have?

    either a 4A-C or 4A-FE

Nope, is the 4A-C I think. It says 4A under the bonnet, and it has a carburetor. A whopping 85 bhp!

    4A/C

we did not get the 4A-FE untill the 5th gen.

I forget you got the 4A-F over there, to me all AT's are 4A-GE which is a very simple conversion.
I thought you were looking at upgrading the motor?, personally I agree with keeping things original - although the value of the car is low at the moment I think that will change drastically in the near future.
My girlfriend (ex) had a 4A-FE Corolla auto, I agree it would be under powered but for town use I'd love to own one, her car uses 1/2 the fuel of my 3S-GE

I'd like to see more pics of the motor etc and interior please

The shelf is not alu, ACM is a plastic composite with alu sandwich, available cheap from any sign shop or shopfitter, kitchen fitter etc.

Is it a carby? or fuel injected?

Sebastian, do you use snow chains over there?
That would limit your larger wheel and tyre size choices??????

They have put 17" rims with low profile 215mm wide tyres over here.
