Hi anyone know timing degree spec while at idle? At the harmonic balencer aka crank pulley. I bought a Haynes service Manuel 86-89 my st162 spec came at 800rpm, 0 degrees. I took it to get smoged and passed but guy said my timing degree was retarded by 10 degrees. He said it should be at 10 degrees at idle btdc. He used a timing light to check timing. I rebuilt motor 3 months ago at home and set crank timing degree to 0 tdc like Haynes service Manuel specified. I will admit it ran sluggish till I advanced ignition timing with distributor.

you need to bridge the t1 and e1 in the diagnostic connector to set timing. it sounds like it was set with the computer advance engaged.

Thank you for the reply. Do you know how the harmonic balencer should be when the motor if off? At 0 degrees or 10 degrees aligned with the cam?
