Ok guys....easy as pie and looks neat! First, peel back the carpet on the passenger side behind the center console. There you will find the ECU! Now, locate the T-VIS wire on the appropriate diagram below and match it up to the wire you need on the connector. www.st162.com/diy/3sge_ecu.jpg www.st162.com/diy/3sgte_ecu.jpg Next, cut the wire about 1-2" from the connector, then twist those wires together , get yourself a butt connector, and attach a single wire to the other end of the butt connector. This will be the ground for the led, you can test it when the car is off because the T-VIS wire is always grounded when the car is off, as soon as you turn the key to "on" then ground is no more! Now, hook up the 12v to your acc wire, either on your radio, or in the fuse block somewhere... I hooked mine up to an existing 12v line that already had a switch on it, you can do the same! I'll get some pictures of the install and a video of it in action in a couple of days.... But give it a shot, it's super easy and it also lets you know your T-VIS is working properly, and if you do auto-x or drag this will come in handy so you always stay in T-VIS range!
you'll need a 12 volt LED as well....just thought I'd throw that little tidbit out there So that pinout is just a negative trigger when the TVIS kicks in right? I think I might do this....except I'll wire it up to light up a phrase on the dash.....something like "BOOYAHHHHHH!!!!!!" HAHahahhaha
Yup the pinout is the ground... I just threw a couple of resistor's on the positive side of the LED to even it up for 12v.... And to test it the TVIS is always grounded when the car's off, so make sure that positive is hooked up to a switch or the acc wire or whatever.... I ended up using a blank spot in the gauge cluster and made a printout with my computer that said TVIS and put it behind the piece of transparent black and just taped it in....looks great!
Next you'll need to find somewhere to power your LED....make sure you have a resistor capable of a load drop to 3-5v as most LED's are that voltage... The positive side need's to be on a switch too (I used my ashtray light wires to power all of my LED's), because when the car is off the tvis is grounded, and when the car is switched on, it's not, unless the engine is above 4000rpm.... I ended up mounting my LED in a blank spot in my gauge cluster....here it is!
looks pretty straight forward, but knowing my luck, ill cut the wrong wire and mess it all up lol i suck at wiring everything but basic sound systems
If you can wire a stereo you can do this....I think this is probably easier....only 2 wires to worry about really....
Okey, if I have understood this correctly, u cut the Top-left wire, tie the two ends together, stick 'em both up one end of a butt connector, and then the ground wire on the other end?
check your ECU pinout first and verify that wire! also this is only for GE/GTE motors! (someone had to state the obvious)
I woould like to see one in action- I think joe would be a prime person cause he is always in TIS mode lolol
