So if my amp is: RMS Power at 4 Ohms 385 W x 1 RMS Power at 2 Ohms 500 W x 1 And my sub is a Dual 4 ohm 400w rms Does that mean I hook it up with both positives on my sub to the positive on the amp and both negatives on the sub to the negative on the amp, to run at 2 ohms?
Damn I had the gain almost all the way up and my sub smells funny hahah... I guess I should turn it down... Hope I didn't fry it already!
All the way?? My amp is 500w rms at 2 ohms and if my sub is 400w rms at 2 ohms wouldn't I blow it up at full gain?? It's been at 3/4 and seems fine....bass boost is at 1/4 and it's sitting around 100hz
thsi would be the one and only time you look at your peak specs as well as rms and factor them in to the equation. I think as long as your peak power on your sub is more than the rms on your amp you'll be fine....don't quote me on that though I just heard it somewhere
then you're good haha. Just don't push it to the point of distortion like some ghetto ricer and you'll be fine
Yeah that's just stupid... I don't intentionally blow things up....although it seems to hapeen to me more than others lol... I'll keep the gain a little bit down from max and see how she goes.... I found the sub for $40 shipped off https://www.sonicelectronix.com/ so if I blow it whatever! I'm tempted to just buy another one anyway and throw 2 in, then I can run the amp at max and not worry about blowing anything up.....
