thanks! and i agree. itd be nice to have to running gts.

Plus i need a winter car, cant really get much traction in an mr2.
I almost bought a alltrac but the kid never got back to me with info.
He said it wouldnt run after he put aftermarket cam gears. i think he didnt do the timing correctly and it would have been an easy fix. but ill settle with this =]

OK, so i was looking around checking everything over on the car.. there are 2 intake cameshafts.. could this be the reason the car wont start? Are the different, or what?

so you have an intake cam instead of an exhaust cam?? if you turn it to the right place it should still start since it would still follow the 1-3-4-2 firing order?? then again i'm just guessing

    What are we talking about?
Can't be FE as you can't have 2 cams the same
GE/GTE has 2 cams - both are the same
1S/2S - has only one cam?

So I guess you're talking GE, whats the starting problem?

So the intake and exhaust cams are the same on a 3sge?

the distributor connection wire to the harness was cut and im not sure which ones lead to the others because for some strange reason the colors dont match.. but it fits the distributor which is the correct one for the car.

Its getting an irregular sparking pattern. it will spark for the first few rotations then nothing. so lost at this point.

    Places to look
    1)AFM connection
2)Coil - lots are dying atm
3)Cams are the same but if you put them in wrong your marks will be out 180 deg

maybe the igniter and dizzy wires where mixed up? the connections are very similar. i have my harness apart atm, ill get you some pics of the wiring up today/tonight.

so heres the igniter and dizzy wire connections. the igniter has 5 wires, all stay the same colors through out the harness and go to the ecu. the dizy has 4 wires (in hand), within the harness they become 1 four part wire. meaning that the 4 wires have thier own seperate coating within the loom. about the size of a coax cable.

-the plugs are very similar (same size, color) but not the same, so they arent interchangeable. they are both controlled by the ecu, both need to be corect and working in order for the car to fire/run.

-if you can take a pic of the wiring you have and we might be able to tell you what you have. seems like your headed in the right direction.

-let me know if you need a better pic or pics of something else. i can get you more this weekend if needed, but hopefully my project will be buttoned up on sunday.

-remember, easiest way to get the harness out is to disconnect it from the ecu/interior and pull that bit through to the engine bay.
