Hello, This begun after a track day and after 3 laps I wasn't brakes and a lot smoke from the brakes. so I desire better brakes I want to share this because Im looking options from somebody that did this in Celica ST161 4 lugs whit rear drum but i can't found in internet and in my country the parts of celica is almost none. So Im read a lot documentation and measurements for ST16x and ST18x and this are numbers ST161 -Front - Disk (243mm) - Caliper (54-22) 54 mm of piston and 22 mm of thick -Rear - Drums ST185 Front: - Disk (277mm) - Caliper (57-25) Rear: - Disk (269mm) Im bought a disk kit en ebay to ST185 and Caliper from Centric parts ( the hardware fit in original hub) Im put rear entire brakes of Camry 1990 (just i replace the disk from the kit that i bought). I changed the fluid for MOTUL RF600 This is the different of front brakes ST161 = 243 mm ST185 = 277 mm the ST185 Caliper with hardware My Celica is 4 lugs so I drill the disk of ST185 (5 Lugs) to fit in my car this is the rear brakes ( I used my original hub 4 lugs) this is the different The caliper and rims are at millimeters Now look this and the brake is much better (not tested in track day yet)
Nice work. That is some tight clearance on the front brakes, what diameter are your wheels? Did the handbrake cable bolt straight up to the Camry rear discs? When I converted mine from drums to discs (I used ST162 rear discs) the handbrake cable didn't line up with the callipers, I had to source an ST162 handbrake cable to suit.
My Wheels are 15" I need to figure out the hand brake because the cable do not fit. I need to do the same as you!
